Panama’s Electoral Tribunal Extends the Validity of Expired ID Cards until January 2027 Including Foreigners.

The Electoral Tribunal (TE) extended the validity of expired personal identity cards until January 4, 2027, as part of the measures adopted due to the national emergency following the earthquake of October 9.  The provision is contained in Decree 14 of October 14, 2026, published in Electoral Bulletin 6092 of October 15.  The extension applies to identity cards for adults and minors, including youth identity cards, as well as permanent resident cards for foreigners issued by the Electoral Tribunal.
