Acting High Commissioner Pawankumar Badhe has highlighted the cultural connections between India and Bangladesh and the role of music and artistic exchanges in strengthening people-to-people ties between the two countries.

He made the remarks on Thursday while addressing a programme celebrating the musical legacy of three renowned Indian singers — Lata Mangeshkar, Kishore Kumar and Manna Dey — and their popularity across generations.
The High Commission of India in Dhaka, in collaboration with the Indira Gandhi Cultural Centre (IGCC), organised the event titled “A Musical Evening with Legends” on the High Commission premises, paying tribute to the three legendary singers.
The programme celebrated their contributions to Indian music and their popularity among audiences in both India and Bangladesh.

The event featured performances by Bangladeshi singers Samarjit Roy and Anupama Mukti.
Samarjit Roy, trained in Indian classical music, performed a selection of songs originally sung by Kishore Kumar and Manna Dey, while Anupama Mukti, a playback singer known for her contributions to Bangladeshi cinema and music, presented several popular songs of Lata Mangeshkar.
The programme also featured a duet by Samarjit Roy and Anupama Mukti.

Senior artists and cultural personalities representing various cultural organisations of Bangladesh, along with music enthusiasts from across the country, attended the event.
