By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): The National Meteorological Service has upgraded its rainfall alert to an excessive rainfall warning, as wet weather continues across Belize.
Forecasters say an additional 2 to 4 inches of rain is possible over some areas in the next 24 hours or so. Residents are advised to monitor the weather and stay tuned to official updates, especially in low lying and flood prone areas.
A trough of low pressure is keeping moist and unstable conditions over the country, supporting showery weather.
Skies will be mostly cloudy today and tonight. Showers, light rain and a few thunderstorms will continue mostly offshore this morning, before spreading to most areas by the afternoon.
Tonight, showers, light rain and isolated thunderstorms will mainly affect coastal and offshore areas.
Temperatures remain cooler. Coastal areas will reach 86°F (30°C) with a low of 78°F (26°C). Inland areas will hit 90°F (32°C), cooling to 74°F (23°C). The hills will see a high of 78°F (26°C) and a low of 68°F (20°C).
Today’s forecast was issued by forecaster Derrick Rudon.
