A Zimbabwean lawyer has offered a direct path forward for a musician reportedly struggling to claim a car allegedly gifted by the late businessman Wicknell Chivayo, saying the matter could be resolved with just two pieces of paperwork.

Lawyer Obey Shava took to Facebook on Thursday, October 22, 2026, to address what he described as a straightforward legal issue, after reports surfaced that a musician who received a car from Chivayo had no logbook to prove ownership.
According to Shava, the musician needs to produce an agreement of sale and proof of payment.
Shava advises Sugar Sugar to produce two documents
The lawyer insisted that two documents are all it would take to settle the dispute and establish a legitimate claim to the vehicle.
"He just has to produce the Agreement of Sale and the proof of payment. Two documents only," Shava wrote in his post.
The lawyer's remarks suggest that even if the car was framed as a gift, the legal route to ownership would still require documentation showing a formal transfer of the asset.
Shava delivers broader caution
Beyond the legal mechanics, Shava used the opportunity to deliver a broader caution.
He noted that the musician should by now understand that nothing is truly free, not even something described as a gift.
"I am sure the great musician knows by now, there is nothing for free under the sun, not even a 'gift'," he wrote, implying that the absence of paperwork could leave the recipient in a difficult legal position when trying to assert ownership.
Who was Wicknell Chivayo?
The post attracted attention given the high-profile nature of Chivayo, who was a prominent and widely discussed Zimbabwean businessman.
With Chivayo now deceased, resolving ownership of assets he reportedly distributed becomes more complex, particularly where documentation is missing or was never formalised.
Shava's intervention frames the car saga not as an unsolvable dispute but as a documentation problem with a clear remedy, provided the musician can produce the required records.

In another story, TUKO also highlighted facts about Joachim “G6” Chivayo’s unfinished Harare residence, which was reportedly planned as an eight-bedroom home with an office, gym and sauna.
The footage drawn fresh attention to the Chivayo family’s wealth, while unverified claims that $4 million was stolen from the property have added intrigue.
