Lansdale Catholic’s Dom D’Addona was relieved of his duties as head football coach Monday night and then resigned, according to D’Addona.
D’Adonna, who was in the midst of his eighth season as the Crusaders’ head coach, and LC are 1-7 overall (1-4 in the Philadelphia Catholic League Blue Division). The team lost to Archbishop Carroll 45-0 last Friday.
A year ago, Lansdale Catholic went 12-3 and reached the PIAA Class 2A state semifinals, where it lost to eventual state champion Southern Columbia. LC moved up to Class 3A this year.
D’Addona said the reasons for his dismissal were “not clear at all.”
LC defensive coordinator Joe Whitesell was named the interim head coach.
Crusaders athletic director BJ Hogan didn’t immediately respond to a Tuesday morning email about the dismissal.
The Crusaders host PCL Blue rival Conwell-Egan on Friday night and close out the regular season with a non-league game at Blue Mountain on Oct. 30.
