Giannis had an inane first quarter with the Heat. He racked up 14 points on 5-for-6 shooting and was in rhythm the whole time, grabbing two boards and going 4-for-6 at the free-throw line. The Heat trailed by two at the end of the quarter, as the new-look Minnesota Timberwolves saw an impressive start by Anthony Edwards and Jaden McDaniels. Those two combined for 21 points.
Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra revealed what his expectations are for Antetokounmpo ahead of the season opener against the Timberwolves.
“We’ve had a very good training camp, preseason. We’ve seen what he can look like. We’re facing a very good team tonight. They’ve played well also from preseason, and they’re excited about their opportunity. So I think right now it’s just about…let’s get out there and compete,” Spoelstra said before Wednesday night’s game against the Timberwolves.
It seems his good training camp showed off right away, as Giannis did not miss a beat playing in a Mikwaukee Buck’s uniform to a Miami Heat uniform. In 11 minutes of play, Antetokounmpo saw his point total reach 17 on 6-for-7 shooting. There was no stopping Giannis in his first game in Miami.
Stay tuned as ClutchPoints will have it all from Wednesday night’s action in the NBA.
