Love or hate her on The Celebrity Traitors, you have to admit: Jerry Hall has an utterly fantastic head of hair. The density! The length! The shine! Its sheer magnetism is probably why the traitors haven’t yet dared to pick her off. (That, and the fact that she was a high school leg-wrestling champion, obviously.)
An OG supermodel, the now 70-year-old Hall’s flaxen mane has always been her signature, whether it was billowing around her as she walked the YSL runway, or miraculously unruffled after another night at Studio 54. “The long, golden, unmistakably Texan blonde is her signature, but she’s never been precious about it,” adds Neil Moodie, editorial hairstylist and founder of Neil Moodie Studio. “The length has changed and the styling softened as the decades have moved on, and that’s exactly why it’s never looked dated. It has always felt like her hair, not a trend she’s borrowed. That’s rare, and it’s a big part of why she’s remained such a defining beauty icon.”
From her dark gold tone in the early ’90s to the shorter, brighter hair she sported in the late 2000s, Hall has been colouring her hair for the majority of her career. Her secret to healthy hair, she says, is soaking it in olive oil. But that potentially pricey hack may not be right for everyone. “A pre-shampoo olive oil treatment can be lovely for softness and shine, but it’s a conditioning treatment rather than a repair,” Moodie explains. “If your hair is coloured or lightened, I’d choose a bond-builder to rebuild its internal strength, then a dedicated hair oil to finish. Olive oil can be a nice extra, but I’d go easy on it – especially if your hair is fine.”
The real key to recreating Hall’s fabulous hair? “Prioritise condition above everything,” stresses Moodie. Opt for golden or champagne blondes over silvery platinums, and don’t be afraid to rock lowlights – much like Hall did in British Vogue’s July 2026 issue.
