KATHMANDU, Oct 14: The government has distributed Rs 45,000 each to 4,108 households directly affected by the Bhotekoshi flood in Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading districts.
According to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, the government distributed the cash assistance provided by the World Food Programme (WFP) through a single-window system to prevent duplication, in coordination with local governments.

The assistance has reached households across 11 local units: five in Rasuwa, four in Nuwakot and two in Dhading. The government plans to distribute the money to around 1,400 additional households awaiting data verification within three days.
A joint meeting of the central and district monsoon response command posts on October 9 decided to streamline the identification and verification of affected households and accelerate their recovery.
As the Red Cross and other development partners have also expressed interest in providing cash assistance, the government has directed local governments and relevant agencies to ensure that support reaches all eligible households without duplication, in line with the Disaster-Sensitive Social Security and Relief Distribution Standards, 2024.
The government is also accelerating efforts to ensure the long-term rehabilitation and management of flood-affected communities.
