Taiz – Taiz Governor Nabil Shamsan issued an urgent national and humanitarian appeal, calling for national and international action to counter the Houthi escalation and its humanitarian consequences, break the 12-year siege imposed on the governorate, and secure the basic needs of millions of citizens, whose suffering is worsening due to shortages of food, medicine, and fuel.
Shamsan urged the state leadership and government to take exceptional measures to support Taiz, secure its essential needs, and bolster hospitals and vital facilities. He also called on local authorities in other governorates, business leaders, and civil society organizations to launch a national solidarity campaign and dispatch urgent relief convoys.
He further appealed to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, the United Nations, the Security Council, and international humanitarian and human rights organizations to provide assistance and take immediate action to stop the attacks on civilians, lift the siege, open safe humanitarian corridors, and ensure the delivery of aid and the transfer of critical medical cases.
The governor affirmed the people of Taiz’s commitment to their right to life, security, freedom and dignity, calling for the organization of peaceful marches to express the unity of the people of the governorate and to mobilize efforts to end their suffering.
