The Delta State Police Command has arrested five suspected criminals in separate operations targeting alleged armed robbery and other criminal activities in Ughelli North and Ika South Local Government Areas of the state.
The arrests were disclosed on Sunday by the command’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, in a statement made available to journalists in Warri.
According to Edafe, operatives of the CP-SAT unit acted on intelligence on October 16, 2026, to raid Ujode Community in Ughelli North, where a suspected armed robbery syndicate was allegedly operating.
He said, “On October 16, 2026, operatives of CP-SAT, acting on credible intelligence concerning the activities of a suspected armed robbery syndicate terrorising Ujode Community in Ughelli North LGA, raided the area and arrested one Thankgod Ejakpomewhe, aged 29 years.”
The police spokesman disclosed that the operatives recovered a locally made long gun and a live cartridge from the 29-year-old suspect.
Other suspected members of the group reportedly escaped during the operation, while the police said efforts were underway to track them down and bring them to justice.
In a separate operation conducted on October 15, operatives of the Special Anti-Kidnapping Unit in Ubuluku, Ika South Local Government Area, raided a suspected criminal hideout in Alisimen Community.
The operation resulted in the arrest of four suspects identified as Okwunzuwa Rubben, 28; John Onyeka, 42; Uzoma Ifeyinwa, 20; and Osas Atoe, 22.

Edafe said, “The operation led to the recovery of one firearm reported as a double-barrelled pump-action gun, one laptop, six mobile phones, a camouflage cap and jacket.”
He added that a subsequent search of the suspects’ residence yielded five rounds of live cartridges.
The police said investigations into the two operations were ongoing, as detectives worked to establish the suspects’ alleged involvement in criminal activities and determine whether other accomplices were still at large.
Reacting to the arrests, the Commissioner of Police in Delta State, CP Samuel Erale, commended the officers involved for their diligence and operational efforts.
Eralе reaffirmed the command’s resolve to dismantle criminal networks and curb the illegal circulation of firearms across the state.
He warned criminal elements to “desist from their activities or face decisive action within the ambit of the law”.
The commissioner also called on residents to assist security agencies by providing credible and timely information that could help prevent crime and facilitate the arrest of suspected offenders.
