South African homeowner’s gate sign warns political parties campaigning for votes

• A South African homeowner put up a handwritten gate sign warning political party campaigners not to enter the property
• The sign, shared on Facebook on 13 October 2026, sparked debate about voter choice and party loyalty across the country
• Commenters were divided, with some wanting to copy the idea and others questioning the homeowner's party preference

A South African homeowner has drawn a flood of reactions online after putting up a no-nonsense sign on their gate ahead of what appears to be a local campaigning period.

Facebook user Gugu Zondie shared a photo of the sign on 13 October 2026. It was captioned with a pointed message directed at rival political parties.

Many people enjoy seeing citizens express disdain for political party campaigns during voting season. Many parties become increasingly desperate during elections, resorting to door-to-door visits which the homeowner wanted to prevent. The sign posted by Gugu Zondie, meant to deter political parties, read:

"Don't enter. I am voting VF Plus."

"Great idea, I'm going to write am voting MKP don't enter."

Thabo Tee asked:

"Can I ask something? Why do you think VF+ is a solution to the problems that black people are facing? Why should a young black person vote VF+? I really need some clarity, I really want to know why you are a VF+ member. What's VF+'s ideology?"

Praido Vilakazi said:

"Back in the day, we used to call them aba thengisi [sellouts]."

Kobus Fourie commented:

"One with brains. Well done!"

Mpilo Moyana added:

"Everyone should be doing this in the whole country for change."
