By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): Former Minister of National Defence and Border Security Florencio Marin has addressed questions surrounding his possible return to Cabinet following Prime Minister John Briceño’s recent reshuffle.
Speaking on Love FM’s The Morning Show on Monday, Marin discussed his position after the Prime Minister consolidated responsibility for the country’s armed forces and Police Department under one ministry.
Earlier this month, Briceño assigned those responsibilities to Michel Chebat, who now heads the Ministry of National Security, Energy and Ports.
Marin, who had served as Minister of National Defence and Border Security since 2020, was not assigned a ministerial portfolio in the changes.
The Corozal Southeast Area Representative remains an elected member of the House of Representatives despite no longer holding a ministerial position.
During the interview, Marin also confirmed that he is no longer receiving a minister’s salary.
His comments come amid questions about whether he could eventually return to Cabinet and what role he might play in the administration moving forward.
The interview summary did not specify whether Marin expressed a willingness to accept another Cabinet appointment.
The full interview was aired on Love FM’s The Morning Show.
