Local Startup Wins Global Prize Incheon City achieved export consultation results totaling $24.98 million at the 2026 KOREA BUSINESS EXPO SHENZHEN, held in connection with the 30th World Korean Business Convention from on Oct. 8 to 10, recording a total of 359 export consultations.
The city said the outcome reflected the effectiveness of its close support using the overseas Korean business network. At the venue, Incheon City set up a joint promotion hall for the city and participating companies and, together with 25 local small and medium-sized enterprises, conducted product exhibitions and one-on-one customized business meetings. As a result, it secured tangible outcomes, including the signing of memorandums of understanding worth about $1.55 million and the conclusion of four on-site contracts.
Individual participating companies also posted notable results. One Incheon-based company won first place in a global startup competition held during the event, confirming its growth potential in the local market. Alongside corporate support, the city promoted key affinity policies, including the Year of Visiting Overseas Koreans and the Overseas Koreans Welcome Center, drawing interest from local businesspeople.
Strengthening networks beyond simple consultations was another core aspect of the event. Participating companies interacted with overseas buyers from a range of sectors and multifacetedly assessed the local marketability of their products. Through on-site networking, Incheon City also used the occasion to hear opinions related to local companies’ overseas expansion and explore possibilities for future linkages.
At a meeting with participating companies held at the event site, the need for continued support was raised. Business representatives attending the meeting requested steady interest and support at the city level, saying participation in overseas exhibitions is essential to building trust with buyers. The companies plan to move forward with follow-up measures by sharing market information obtained through the expo and directions for expanding sales channels.
Han Gyo-dong, head of Incheon City’s Overseas Koreans Cooperation Division, said the event helped publicize the excellent technological capabilities of Incheon companies in overseas markets and produce practical results, adding that the city would continue to further strengthen small and medium-sized enterprises’ overseas expansion and regional economic cooperation based on the overseas Korean business network.
