The Oregon high school football regular season is nearing the end, which means the postseason is close.
This week's Eugene-Springfield area schedule includes Marist Catholic vs. South Umpqua in a Sky-Em League (4A Special District 3) game.
Marist Catholic (3-4, 2-2 SD3) came into the week in fourth place in the Sky-Em standings and No. 17 in the OSAA 4A rankings. The top three teams in the conference earn automatic bids for the 16-team 4A state playoff bracket. The two highest-ranked teams in 4A that do not earn automatic bids will receive at-large bids. The Spartans finish the regular season next week at Junction City (5-2, 4-1).
Sweet Home (7-0, 4-0), Junction City (5-2, 4-1) and North Bend (4-3, 3-1) are in line to take the Sky Em's three automatic berths.
This is South Umpqua's first season in the Sky-Em. The Lancers, who are 3-4 on the year and 1-3 in league play, spent the 2025 campaign playing in Class 3A Special District 4.
