The Director-General of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council, Senator Abdul’aziz Yari, has declared that Northern Nigeria is “101 per cent” behind President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
Yari said the region’s political leaders, traditional rulers and Islamic clerics were committed to Tinubu’s return, citing what he described as the achievements of the administration in the economy, infrastructure, education and human capital development.
He spoke at the APC presidential campaign flag-off rally in Kaduna, where he expressed confidence in the party’s ability to campaign on its record in government.
“Mr President, we are committed. We have been engaging all and sundry, our traditional rulers, our ulama and our imams, to understand the importance of your return in 2027 for continuity, for the peace of this country and for Nigeria,” Yari said.
He described the gathering as a demonstration of the North’s support for Tinubu, insisting that key political figures from the region were present at the rally.
“All the shakers and movers of this part of the country are here. In the northern part of the country, anybody who is not here today, Mr President, then there is nobody there. We are here,” he said.
Yari subsequently declared the region’s support for the President’s second-term ambition.
“Northern Nigeria is 101 per cent for you, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, by God’s grace, Insha Allah,” he said, adding that the party would demonstrate its commitment at the polls.
The former Zamfara State governor also defended Tinubu’s economic policies, including the removal of fuel subsidy, arguing that the country’s economic indicators had changed since the President assumed office.
“Mr President, we have seen what you have been doing. We have seen what is on the ground. If we talk about the economy, we know the state of the economy when you stepped into the leadership of this country. Today, the total indices have changed completely to the advantage of Nigeria and other countries of the world,” he said.
Yari added that the APC would rely on its record in infrastructure, health, education and social intervention programmes to make its case to Nigerians ahead of the election.
“We Nigerians, at the head of this campaign, are going to campaign with our records. Our records are there. The infrastructure is there. What you did in health, education and human capital development is there,” he said.
He also cited the administration’s cash transfer programmes as part of its interventions, while urging support for continuity in government.
Yari’s declaration comes as political parties prepare for the 2027 general election, with the APC seeking another mandate for Tinubu.
