WNBA legend Sheryl Swoopes has urged fans to tune in to the finals because of Angel Reese alone. Swoopes endorsed Reese because of the hate and criticism she faced during the first two seasons of her career. Here’s what she said on Draymond Green’s podcast:
“You should tune into the finals because of Angel Reese… She alone is worth the price of the ticket.”
While Swoopes was merely trying to make a point against Reese’s haters, who have been criticizing her over the past two years, some fans took offense on behalf of the other Dream players.
They felt Swoopes was pushing a Reese agenda by snubbing others for credit in the Dream’s run.
“So Atlanta has only one player?” one fan said.

Angel Reese doesn’t think the Ballhalla gives the Dream any challenges
Angel Reese is embracing the chance to play a finals series in front of the Ballhalla. The Valkyries have one of the loudest crowds, creating arguably an unparalleled atmosphere in a WNBA arena. However, Reese isn’t intimidated.
“I don’t think it gives us any challenges,” she told reporters on Friday. “I think it’s a healthy environment to be able to see women’s sports continue to grow. What they’ve been able to do in two years is really cool and exciting to see. They poured into their fanbase, and they continue to show up and show out.”
The Dream have been just as good on the road as they are at home. They are unbeaten in their two away games against the Washington Mystics and New York Liberty.
Reese thrived in those games, averaging 18.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks. The Dream had home-court advantage in those matchups. However, that won’t be the case in the finals.
They will hope the unfamiliarity doesn’t rattle Reese and Co., as home-court advantage in the finals helps even more in a seven-game series.
