The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) has announced that it is helping deliver vital humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan from the Uzbek city of Termez.
The organization reported on Sunday, October 25, that the Termez hub plays an important role in ensuring the continued delivery of therapeutic food supplies and essential medicines to Afghanistan.
UNICEF added that millions of children are at risk of malnutrition and that the timely delivery of these supplies is critical to meeting the needs of children and their families.
The agency emphasized that the hub plays a key role in maintaining the flow of life-saving assistance to children and families in need across Afghanistan.
The aid deliveries come as UNICEF previously reported that 3.7 million children in Afghanistan suffer from malnutrition, including approximately one million facing severe and life-threatening malnutrition.
