Around 300 students attended a higher education counselling session at New Gulf Indian School in Mahboula on September 30, 2026, to explore university education and career opportunities in India. Organised in collaboration with Indus India Education and The Times Kuwait, the session was part of India Education Career Counselling 2026, held from September 28 to 30.
The session provided students with an opportunity to interact directly with representatives of Indian universities and learn about higher education options, admission procedures, entrance examinations and emerging career pathways in India. Students from New Gulf Indian School and Gulf Indian School also attended the session.
Affiliated with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Gulf Indian School offers education up to the senior secondary level. The school emphasises academic development, discipline and character formation, while preparing students with the knowledge, skills and values needed for their future academic and professional journeys.
Following the session, the visiting delegation met the school’s Principal, Mrs. Ambikadevi Sreekumar, who holds an MA and B.Ed. and is listed by the school as a Ph.D. scholar. The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss students’ educational interests and the importance of making informed choices when selecting higher education programmes.
The Indian delegation comprised representatives from seven institutions: Yenepoya University, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), REVA University, Marwadi University, Woxsen University, Atria University and RV University. The representatives shared information on professional and vocational courses, eligibility criteria, admission requirements, entrance examinations and application procedures.
The programme highlighted the range of higher education opportunities available in India beyond traditional fields such as engineering, medicine and commerce. Students were introduced to emerging and specialised disciplines, including artificial intelligence, data science, cybersecurity, robotics, business analytics, maritime studies, psychology, design and healthcare, alongside established fields such as law, management, architecture and the sciences.
Direct interaction with university representatives enabled students to clarify course structures, admission requirements, application procedures and potential career pathways. The sessions also covered online degree programmes, which offer flexible learning opportunities for working professionals and others seeking further qualifications.
India Education Career Counselling 2026 aimed to help the Indian community in Kuwait make informed decisions about higher education by connecting students and families directly with academic institutions in India. Families were encouraged to assess programmes based on institutional recognition, accreditation, curriculum, practical training, tuition fees and future career prospects.
By hosting the counselling session, New Gulf Indian School provided students with direct access to university representatives and information on a wide range of higher education options, supporting their efforts to make informed decisions about further studies.
