Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce can continue to bolster his Hall of Fame résumé on Sunday night against the Seahawks.
Kelce is just 35 yards away from breaking Tony Gonzalez's NFL record for career receiving yards by a tight end, counting the playoffs.
Gonzalez retired with an NFL record total of 15,413 receiving yards: 15,127 in the regular season and 286 in the playoffs. Kelce currently has 15,379 receiving yards: 13,301 in the regular season and 2,078 in the playoffs. With 35 yards on Sunday Night Football, Kelce will surpass Gonzalez's total.
Kelce can also continue to move up the career regular-season receiving record books. Kelce currently has 1,100 catches in the regular season, the seventh-most in NFL history. Cris Carter has the sixth-most with 1,101 and Marvin Harrison has the fifth-most with 1,102. So if Kelce catches three passes on Sunday night he'll move ahead of Harrison and into the Top 5 all-time.
The only players with more than 1,102 catches in their NFL careers were Jerry Rice (1,549), Larry Fitzgerald (1,432), Gonzalez (1,325) and Jason Witten (1,228).
