Krispy Kreme will sell a limited-edition Taz Chocolate Original Glazed Dozen for $5 to anyone who buys a dozen of any variety from Oct. 20-22 at participating U.S. shops, the company said. The three-day offer coincides with the return of Chocolate Original Glazed doughnuts.
The dozen contains nine Chocolate Original Glazed doughnuts and three new Taz Chocolate Tornado doughnuts, the company said. Each Tornado doughnut starts as a Chocolate Original Glazed doughnut, topped with a swirl of green icing shaped like a twister and coated in rainbow nonpareils, Halloween sprinkles and crumbled chocolate cookies. The Taz design is based on the Looney Tunes character.
Customers who buy any dozen in the shop or at the drive-thru can add the Taz dozen for $5, with a limit of two per guest. Customers ordering for pickup or delivery through the Krispy Kreme app or website can type in the promo code "BOGO5."
"Chocolate Original Glazed is one of those fan-favorite treats people get excited to see return — and pairing it with Taz brings the perfect amount of Halloween mischief," Alison Holder, chief brand and product officer for Krispy Kreme, said in a statement. "For three days, guests can enjoy the chocolatey glaze they love with a playful Looney Tunes twist."
The dozen was developed with Warner Bros. Global Consumer Products and is part of Krispy Kreme's Looney Tunes Halloween promotions. Guests who show up dressed in a costume at participating shops on Friday, Oct. 30, and Saturday, Oct. 31, can get a free doughnut, either Original Glazed or Classic Ring, without buying anything, the company said.
Krispy Kreme's Looney Tunes Halloween Collection comes in a custom Halloween-themed box with four doughnuts: Bugs Bunny, Tweety and Sylvester, Taz, and Lola Bunny.
The Taz dozen follows the launch of the Looney Tunes Halloween Collection on Oct. 6, a partnership with Warner Bros. that remains available through Halloween. Last week, Krispy Kreme sold a Looney Tunes Lab Dozen for $13 through Oct. 15. That dozen held nine Green Original Glazed doughnuts and three Looney Tunes Lab Doughnuts.
