Mini Eggs might be synonymous with Easter, but Co-op is hoping to make colourful chocolate eggs a Halloween tradition too with the launch of its brand-new Dinosaur Eggs – a sweet that's making its first ever UK debut.
Landing in Co-op stores from today, 14 October, the new confectionery is inspired by South Africa's much-loved Speckled Eggs, which have been a sweetshop favourite for generations. This marks the first time the popular treat has been recreated for the UK market, giving shoppers the chance to try something completely different this autumn season.

At first glance, they look a little like brightly speckled Mini Eggs, but bite into one and you'll quickly discover they're hiding an unexpected surprise. Instead of a solid chocolate centre, each Dinosaur Egg features a chewy blackcurrant-flavoured jelly bean, coated in Fairtrade milk chocolate and finished with a crisp, colourful sugar shell. It sounds delicious and we can't wait to snack on these.
The result is a fun mix of textures, with the crunchy shell giving way to creamy chocolate before you taste the fruity, chewy centre. If you're a fan of sweets that mix chocolate and fruit, these will be right up your alley.

They cost just £1 for an 80g bag, making them an affordable Halloween treat, whether you're filling up a sweet bowl for trick-or-treaters or simply fancy trying one of South Africa's most iconic confectionery creations for yourself.
With Halloween increasingly becoming an excuse for supermarkets to launch playful, limited-edition treats, we have a feeling these colourful Dinosaur Eggs are going to spark plenty of curiosity.
