KUALA LUMPUR: Women's doubles pair Pearly Tan–M Thinaah ended their wait for a first title since January by winning the Denmark Open today.
The world No. 5 defeated Japan's world No. 21 Hinata Suzuki–Nao Yamakita 21-18, 21-11 in the final at the SJF Bank Arena in Odense to claim their second title of the season.
Pearly–Thinaah last tasted success at the Indonesia Masters in Jakarta, where they received a walkover after Japan's Arisa Igarashi–Miyu Takahashi withdrew from the final.
Their latest success also made them the first Malaysian women's doubles pair to win the Denmark Open in 18 years, following Wong Pei Tty–Chin Eei Hui's triumph in 2008.
