PETALING JAYA: A student went on an alleged knife attack in an international school in Kuching, Sarawak, today, injuring a teacher.
Acting Sarawak police chief Saifullizan Ishak said the student used a penknife, and not an axe, as alleged, Utusan Sarawak reported.
Sinar Harian quoted the school authorities as saying the teacher was injured when he tried to confiscate the penknife from the student.
The school authorities said the 16-year-old student was restrained and escorted to the principal's office, where he was monitored. They said his parents had also been contacted.
The teacher was sent to hospital for treatment, and no other injuries had been reported.
The school was also closed immediately to facilitate the police investigation.
Saifullizan said further information on the incident would be provided by Kuching police chief Alexson Naga Chabu.
