Remember the Nasty Boys?
They were the hard-throwing trio of Norm Charlton, Rob Dibble and Randy Myers that helped the Cincinnati Reds shock the powerful Oakland Athletics, sweeping them in the 1990 World Series.
Well, the 2026 Milwaukee Brewers bullpen looks even nastier in these playoffs.
Milwaukee relievers have allowed just a single run in 28⅔ innings during the first six games of the National League playoffs.
They may be overdue for a cool nickname, but they've been freezing bats all season. However, it's taken a lights-out six games against the San Diego Padres and the Los Angeles Dodgers for those who doubted the Brewers to notice.
Milwaukee became the first team in MLB postseason history to pitch five perfect innings of relief – 15 batters faced, 15 batters retired.
And after the Brewers scored a pair of insurance runs in the eighth inning of their 7-4 victory in Game 2 of the National League Championship Series on Monday, Oct. 12, closer Trevor Megill wasn't even needed to get the final three outs in the ninth.
The bullpen also pitched 4⅔ innings of shutdown relief in Game 1, allowing only two hits.
Here's some reaction from MLB media and fans on the Brewers' almost unhittable bullpen:
The first bullpen to pitch 5+ innings and not allow a single baserunner in a game in postseason history:

The Milwaukee Brewers win, 7-4, with their bullpen yielding an insane 0.31 ERA this postseason, retiring all 15 batters they faced today.

They are now going to Los Angeles with a 2-0 lead.
It's the first time they've had a 2-0 lead in a best-of-7 series in franchise history.
Absolute and utter dominance from the Brewers bullpen

I said at the beginning of this Brewers Dodgers series that the Brewers bullpen was gonna put some folks on notice. They weren’t really sneaking up on anyone who had watched them this season but you’ve just watched them post 28.2 innings of with 1 ER allowed over the first 6…

Brewers bullpen is nasty business. If they go all the way it’ll be up there for best all time for a postseason run.

Awesome game from the Brewers bullpen. I hope they don’t end up overexposing them so that they struggle later in the series, but you’ve gotta chase each potential win when it’s out there for you

The Brewers go up 2-0 on the 🤑 Dodgers.

The bullpen doesn’t give up a single base runner.
But the announcers are going to be like: “I believe this works in the Dodgers favor”
