Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command have intercepted a Lexus LX570 SUV with a concealed number plate bearing the inscription “Presidency” in Maitama District of Abuja.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, SP Josephine Adeh, disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday.
According to the statement, the vehicle was intercepted at about 8:00 pm on October 20 and the occupant was arrested for investigation and prosecution.
Adeh said preliminary investigations revealed that the concealed number plate bore the inscription “PRESIDENCY” with registration number 10B218 FG.
She added that the suspect claimed to be the legitimate holder of the number plate, but further investigations showed that the registration documents were forged.
The police further revealed that the suspect was also found to be impersonating a Permanent Secretary attached to the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
“Investigations are ongoing, and the suspect will be charged to court upon their conclusion,” the command said.
The FCT Police Command urged residents to remain law-abiding, cooperate with police operations, and promptly report suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station or through the command’s emergency numbers: 08032003913, 08061581938.
