Cleveland Guardians pitcher Tanner Bibee won his second Fielding Bible Award on Thursday, receiving recognition for his regular-season defense after throwing just one-third of an inning during the 2026 postseason.
Bibee previously won the award in 2024, when he co-led MLB pitchers in Defensive Runs Saved and became the first Cleveland pitcher to earn the honor. He joins Dallas Keuchel, Mark Buehrle, Zack Greinke and Max Fried as pitchers with multiple Fielding Bible Awards.
The selection follows a postseason in which the Guardians’ Opening Day starter made one relief appearance and never pitched in the American League Championship Series. The Guardians lost that series to the Tampa Bay Rays in six games.

The Guardians announced Bibee’s latest honor Thursday on their official X account, formerly Twitter, sharing a graphic celebrating his second selection and his place among the award’s repeat winners.

The Fielding Bible Award recognizes the best defender at each position across MLB, selecting one winner across both leagues. Gold Gloves, by comparison, recognize a winner in each league.
In his fourth MLB season, Bibee finished with five Defensive Runs Saved, matching Michael McGreevy and Shota Imanaga while trailing Brent Suter’s seven.
The right-hander went 7-15 with a 4.36 ERA and a 1.22 WHIP across 33 starts and 188 innings during the regular season. He also recorded 19 quality starts, giving Cleveland its highest individual total in that category since Shane Bieber in 2022.
After struggling in September, he threw 15 pitches in relief during ALDS Game 4 on Thursday, October 8, 2026. That appearance accounted for his entire postseason workload.
Manager Stephen Vogt said Cleveland wanted to use Bibee, but the right opportunity never arose. Cleveland had reserved him for potential extra innings, but none of the six ALCS games extended beyond the ninth inning.
