Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming announced a special RM30 million allocation to resurface about 600 residential roads across Perak.
IPOH: About 600 residential roads across Perak are expected to be resurfaced under a special RM30 million allocation approved by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, said Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming.
He said the allocation, under the Sentuhan Kasih Istimewa YAB PMX initiative, would be funded through savings accumulated by the ministry (KPKT) over the past few years and channelled back to the people to improve public amenities and comfort.
“On the occasion of the Perak DAP State Convention, I am announcing, on behalf of the Prime Minister, a special allocation of RM30 million for road resurfacing works in residential areas throughout the state.
“At least 600 roads will be resurfaced under this allocation. The work will begin next month and is expected to be fully completed before Hari Raya next year,” he said at the 24th Perak DAP Annual Convention, which was officiated by DAP secretary-general and Transport Minister Anthony Loke here today.
More than 1,000 delegates attended the convention at the Ipoh Convention Centre (ICC).
Meanwhile, Nga, who is also Perak DAP chairman, said the MADANI Government’s commitment to public welfare was reflected in various initiatives under Budget 2027 aimed at benefiting the B40 and M40 income groups.
These included an individual income tax exemption of RM12,000 for certain taxable income and Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (SARA) assistance of RM200 for 22 million recipients.
Nga said DAP would not tolerate corruption or abuse of power despite the challenges it faced.
He urged the public to reject corruption, warning that it could jeopardise the younger generation’s future, and praised Universiti Malaya (UM) student Ummi Umairah for speaking out against the issue.
Nga, a UM alumnus, said leaders must set a good example through their words and actions
