Alberta NDP Leader Naheed Nenshi was spotted at the rally, but is not included on the official program schedule.
Albertans will head to the polls on Oct. 19 to vote on 10 referendum questions, including one that asks whether they want Alberta to remain a province of Canada, or support the provincial government beginning the legal progress toward holding a second, binding referendum on separation.
The rally came as advance voting is well underway across Alberta.
More than 186,000 voters cast their votes during advance polling on Wednesday, and 454,000 special ballots have been received and processed so far, Elections Alberta said Thursday in an emailed statement.
As a registered third-party advertiser, Forever Canadian is allowed to hold events such as Thursday’s rally.
Earlier Thursday, Carney made several stops in Calgary aimed at rallying support to keep Alberta in Confederation, visiting a restaurant in northeast Calgary before meeting with volunteers and supporters at a park in Bridgeland.
More to come.
