There may be nothing Calgary Flames fans are more excited for right now than hearing Devin Cooley speak after wins.
The 29-year-old is quickly gaining league-wide attention due to his extremely unique personality. Some sum it up simply as being a goalie, while others think he’s just a hilarious character. One thing that is for sure is that he is as authentic as it gets.
Cooley was in between the pipes on Thursday night in a 2-1 victory over the Minnesota Wild. While he didn’t dive into his unconscious brain this time around, he did have some more incredible quotes, including when he was asked about a mad scramble right followed by his celebration as the final horn sounded.

“I thought they scored, and then I looked up, and I saw the Flames and the buzzer, and that’s why I was like, ‘Ya!’ That was amazing. I thought it went five-hole and I was like, ‘I don’t know where the puck is.’ Then I say the Flames, and I was like, ‘Yes. Thank god.’
“Everyone wanted to come and celebrate. I was like, ‘Dude, I can’t breathe. I’m trying to catch my breath, this is so hard. Just give me a second.'”
Cooley was absolutely exceptional against the Wild, kicking aside 35 of the 36 shots he faced. After what had been a rough start to the season, he’s now picked up wins in each of his past two starts, and decided to poke some fun at Flames fans who are rooting for losses in hopes of a high draft pick.
“Everyone counted us out, and we’ve gone head-to-head with two of the top teams in the league these past two games, and we’ve won. It’s been incredible,” Cooley said.
“I already know the DMs I’m going to be getting from team tank, ‘Stop winning, idiot.'”
With the way Cooley is playing as of late, it wouldn’t come as a surprise to see him continue getting regular starts going forward. That’s great news for hockey fans, as it means these hilarious soundbites should continue to come on a steady basis.
