Senator representing Delta South Senatorial District, Joel-Onowakpo Thomas, has congratulated Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, on his conferment with the Christian Icon Award by the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Abuja.
The award, presented on Saturday, recognised Oborevwori’s commitment to public service, integrity, ethical leadership and Christian values.
Joel-Onowakpo, who chairs the Senate Committee on Local Content, described the honour as a recognition of the governor’s leadership qualities, dedication to the welfare of the people and commitment to service.
He said the award underscored the importance of integrity, humility and the application of Christian principles in public office, noting that leadership should be measured by its impact on the lives of the people.
The senator commended CAN for recognising Oborevwori’s contributions to governance and urged the governor to remain steadfast in his commitment to the development of Delta State.
He expressed confidence that the recognition would further inspire the governor to sustain his administration’s development initiatives under the MORE Agenda, which focuses on Meaningful Development, Opportunities for All, Realistic Reforms and Enhanced Peace and Security.
Joel-Onowakpo wished Oborevwori continued wisdom, strength and divine guidance as he steers the affairs of the state, adding that the award was a source of pride to Deltans.
He also urged leaders at all levels to uphold the values of honesty, accountability, compassion and selfless service in the discharge of their responsibilities.
