My Wayfair furniture pieces came in under-budget and over-delivered on quality

When furnishing your home, sticker shock is a real thing. When scouring shopping sites for that plush sectional sofa or that all-in-one outdoor patio set, it isn’t difficult for your cart to add up to a few thousand dollars.

As a recent first-time homeowner, I’ve quickly realized both the excitement and the perils of furniture shopping. Both dazzling and overwhelming, I hopped from store to store with my husband — which was a bit unusual, as online brands and products are what I report on for a living — but the in-store experience affirmed what I already knew: online shopping if done correctly, can be more cost-effective while providing all of your options at a glance.

One retailer that I visited 24/7 was Wayfair. The flash sales giant is notorious for its weekly spread of online deals, but you *really* have to know how to dig out the hidden gems it has to offer. First, I ordered my bar stools. Next, it was my bedroom set. The best part? My total purchase was nowhere near the $5,000 to $7,000 I was planning on spending from a competing retailer.

Luckily, Wayfair is always hosting deals — the best one being the upcoming Way Day 2026 event — making your bedroom furniture purchase even more worthwhile.

What is Way Day?

Way Day is Wayfair’s biggest sales event of the year. Prices are typically up to 80% off across the lion’s share of its categories, from furniture and kitchen to outdoor and decor. This year, Way Day starts on Saturday, Oct. 24 to Monday, Oct. 26. Early access kicked off on Monday, Oct. 19.

In essence, Way Day sandwiched in between the rotisserie of retailer-hosted sales (first October Prime Day, with Black Friday and Cyber Monday not too far after Way Day). The first Way Day hit the e-commerce market in 2018 — and we’ve been shopping and reporting on what to buy and how to take full advantage of the event ever since.

Charlton Home Mid Century Bedroom Dresser with 8 Drawers

After months on Pinterest curating my inspiration boards, I decided to go with natural oak furniture to accompany my white duvet cover and pops of beige and gray in the master bedroom. What I didn’t realize until a late-night TikTok scroll was that this dresser is a surefire dupe for the Pottery Barn Sausalito Dresser that’s thousands of dollars more.

Ahead, you’ll find all of the pieces I ordered from Wayfair, with detailed review notes and pictures!

About Wayfair

For years, Wayfair has been a leading online retailer specializing in home goods, offering a wide range of furniture, decor, and appliances for every room in the house. Founded in 2002, it quickly became a go-to destination for homeowners and renters alike, thanks to its extensive inventory, user-friendly website and competitive pricing. That’s right — it always has a good sale going on.

With millions of products across categories like living room furniture, bedroom sets, lighting, kitchenware, and outdoor furnishings, Wayfair aims to provide something for every taste and budget. The retailer’s vast selection and fast delivery make it an attractive choice for those looking to create a personalized, stylish living space.

One of Wayfair’s key strengths lies in its partnerships with top brands, which help deliver high-quality, trend-forward products to its customers, regardless of their budget. Among the most popular names featured on the platform are brands like AllModern, which focuses on sleek, contemporary designs; Joss & Main, known for its cozy, transitional styles; and Birch Lane, which offers classic and timeless pieces with a rustic flair.

These premium brands, along with Wayfair’s in-house label, Wayfair Basics, provide a variety of options to suit different design aesthetics, from minimalist and modern to traditional and farmhouse-inspired.

In addition to Wayfair Basics, the company also offers several other exclusive in-house brands like Wade Logan, Andover Mills and Three Posts. Style-wise, these brands provide diverse options — from modern and contemporary to classic and traditional — while maintaining Wayfair’s focus on accessibility and affordability.

The retailer is also popular for specific product categories. Wayfair rugs and couches are trending year-round, while coffee tables and bathroom vanities are other buzzy categories consumers comb through regularly.

What makes Wayfair truly unique is its commitment to making home shopping as seamless and enjoyable as possible. With advanced search filters, AI-powered recommendations and personalized shopping experiences, it helps customers find exactly what they’re looking for.

From experience, the company also offers convenient services such as easy returns, assembly (by way of its partnership with Angi, but more on that in our review), and even design consultations. For customers looking to furnish an entire home or just add a few key pieces, Wayfair’s extensive selection and flexible shopping options make it a one-stop shop for all things home-related.

What is Wayfair’s price range?

Wayfair offers a wide range of products at varying price points, with its pricing depending largely on the category, brand, and specific product you’re looking for.

For instance, you can find smaller furniture pieces (think chairs, side tables, etc.) starting around $50 to $150. Its lion’s share of products — like sofas, dining tables and storage units — tend to range from $200 to $800.

Of course, Wayfair has premium options as well. From outdoor patio furniture to bed frames, you can find some top-notch, long-lasting pieces ranging from $1,000 to $5,000. Sometimes, even more.

What is Wayfair’s shipping policy?

Wayfair’s shipping policy, compared to competing retailers, is quite convenient and swift. For most smaller items, such as home decor, kitchen accessories, and lighting, it provides standard shipping that typically takes between 3 to 7 business days. This is often free for orders over a certain amount, usually $35 or more, although some exclusions apply based on the size or category of the product.

What’s more, Wayfair’s free shipping offers are generally limited to standard ground shipping, but customers can opt for expedited shipping for an additional fee to receive items faster.

For larger furniture and heavy items, Wayfair uses a white glove delivery service or freight shipping, which can take a bit longer, generally 7 to 14 business days, depending on your location and the specific product. White glove delivery includes the assembly and placement of furniture in the room of your choice, which is especially helpful for bulky items like sofas, beds or dining tables. It’s a premium service, so while it’s more expensive, it may be worth adding to your purchase to handle the delivery and set up of large furniture. Additionally, you’ll receive a delivery window notification and can typically reschedule if necessary.

Wayfair also offers express shipping for select items, which can expedite delivery to 1–2 business days. This service is usually available for smaller items and comes with an extra cost, but it’s ideal for customers who need their products quickly.

International shipping is also available, but the rates and delivery times may vary based on the destination.

Wayfair also has a return policy that ensures customers can return most items within 30 days of delivery, though some restrictions apply for furniture or custom-made items.

What is Wayfair’s quality like?

The quality of Wayfair’s furniture depends on the brand, price point and material used, as the platform offers products across a broad spectrum of quality levels.

For budget-conscious shoppers, Wayfair has affordable furniture that can be perfectly functional, though it may not always have the same durability or craftsmanship as higher-end pieces. Many of the more economical options are made with engineered wood or composite materials, which can offer decent quality for the price but likely won’t withstand heavy wear and tear over time.

However, Wayfair’s mid-range offerings tend to strike a good balance between affordability and quality, generally featuring sturdier materials like solid wood or more refined finishes that hold up better in the long run.

For those seeking premium or luxury furniture, Wayfair carries high-end brands that focus on high-quality construction and sophisticated designs. These pieces often feature solid wood, high-grade upholstery and durable hardware, making them suitable for long-term investment.

Our top tip? Be sure to read the product description carefully. Sometimes, the same brand can carry a rich variety of materials. That said, some pieces from a given brand may be more well-made than others from the same label.

Our review

I’ve been ordering from Wayfair for years and have always had a good experience. Each time I entered my credit card number and completed my purchase, I instantly received a confirmation email and corresponding number to look up the status of my order throughout the week.

As this Wayfair order was under a time crunch because of my moving day plans, I wanted to ensure that everything was delivered, assembled and good to go in my master bedroom before I moved to my new house at the end of October. Luckily, my Lark Manor Armania Swivel Upholstered Counter Stools arrived within a few days and my fiancé and I were able to assemble it on the day we had the keys to our first home in hand.

Wildon Home Bianny Swivel Upholstered Counter Stool (Set of 2)

The Wildon Home Bianny Swivel Upholstered Counter Stool comes in a set of two, making the perfect duo for the butcher block counter separating my kitchen and living room. They’re comfortable, boast a solid wood frame, and have elegant upholstered buttons lining the cushion.

It wasn’t long before oil was spilled onto one of the chairs. Luckily, the Puracy Stain Remover Spray spritzed it out in a jiffy. While they’re offered at an incredible value and are simple to assemble, you’ll need to purchase felt furniture pads to prevent scratches from forming on your floor. Compared to my dining room chairs that were ordered at Raymour & Flanigan, these bar stools are prone to scratching.

Joss & Main Hanson Upholstered Wingback Bed

As soon as I came across the Joss & Main Hanson Upholstered Wingback Bed, I knew it was our bed. I wanted something that looked luxurious and, for me, that meant something with fabric.

Sure, traditional wood bed frames are nice and all, but a lot of the oak ones were giving teenage boy bedroom vibes. I wanted something elevated, adult and most of all, photogenic.

Luckily, the bed frame perfectly fit my mattress and the adjustable base allowed it to transform into raised or lowered positions. When I went into a Macy’s showroom, many of the bed frames couldn’t accommodate my adjustable base, so this one was already a winner.

Available in a variety of sizes and fabric colors, I decided to go with the Classic Talc Linen shade in the King size. Best of all, its thick materials and soft finish make it one of my favorite furniture pieces I picked up for my new house. It’s certainly worth the higher price tag.

While I found that the headboard moves slightly, it secures well to its frame. For a quick fix, you can opt to mount it to the wall. It always garners plenty of compliments, too.

Charlton Home Mid Century Bedroom Dresser with 8 Drawers

Among all of the dressers I’ve researched, I’m glad the Charlton Home Mid Century Bedroom Dresser made its way to my bedroom. While I do wish the wood was a bit better in quality, it holds up well and does the job of storing our belongings and matches with the rest of our furniture and decor.

The four bottom drawers are quite deep while the four drawers above are extremely narrow. In these drawers, we store socks (and more socks), tights, and random thin items that we have no other place for. In a way, it’s good, but I do wish the top drawers were a bit deeper.

After having this dresser for more than a year, I’d say this is my least favorite of the Wayfair furniture pieces I have in my bedroom. In fact, I replaced it for Pottery Barn’s Sausalito Dresser, which is a major upgrade. For the price point, this Wayfair pick will still do the job — and it’s still worth the under-$400 price tag — but keep in mind that it’s not fully equipped to store a ton of your belongings.

It looked wonderful in my space, but the drawers don’t go deep enough to fit a whole row of workout leggings or a full drawer of pajamas. However, I wouldn’t say it’s a dealbreaker, as many dressers run into this issue.

If ordering again, I may opt for something like the viral Canora Grey Victoria 6-Drawer Dresser that holds a similar look but seems to have subtly larger drawers (trust me, this makes a world of difference).

Its size is perfect for our master bedroom wall, allowing us to display our full-length mirror and possibly an accent chair to the side. It’s not my *favorite* piece of furniture in our bedroom, as we love our bed and nightstands a bit more. But it matches well and has drawers that slide and close easily, so we’re pleased with the 8-drawer furniture piece for the time being. Plus, the price is great, making it a wonderful option for apartment dwellers or those on tighter budgets.

Lark Manor Alance 5-Drawer Dresser

Like the Charlton Home Mid Century Bedroom Dresser with 8 Drawers, the Lark Manor Alance 5-Drawer Dresser is vertically positioned and is budget-friendly to accommodate most budgets. Even though my fiancé and I have two walk-in closets, we love having extra space for additional clothes and garments. We have this piece positioned on the wall that leads to our master bathroom, toward the left side of our bed.

While you can certainly style a horizontal dresser, styling a vertical one adds some height and unique character to the room. We have a perfume tray and a picture frame (note to self: get to styling our horizontal dresser!) and love how it looks.

In comparison to the horizontal dresser, this one topples a bit. However, it can be mounted, which is a house project we may add to our list in the coming weeks.

Sadly, its drawers don’t open fully, but it’s not a huge dealbreaker. We love its height, storage potential and ability to match well with the rest of our pieces, especially given that it’s from another brand entirely.

Laurel Foundry Modern Farmhouse Allyssa 3-Drawer Dresser

Among all of the furniture my fiancé and I ordered the Laurel Foundry Modern Farmhouse Allyssa 3-Drawer Dresser is one of our very favorites. Yes, it has “dresser” in its name, but we decided to grab two to use as nightstands — and boy, did we make the right decision.

The original ones we were looking into (the Sand & Stable Scarlett Nightstand), looked more akin to a child’s bedroom than a master suite. Shortly before we ordered our pieces, we changed our minds to grab the near-34-inch-wide dressers, allowing us to place our oversized lamps beautifully on top.

It’s durable, easy to assemble, and versatile for years of use. Because of its design, I can always move it to my living room, guest room or entryway. Its ability to hold a lot of decor and items on top makes it phenomenal for the price.

It may be too large to fit certain bedrooms, so be sure to measure with a keen eye before ordering. When my bed arrived before this set of nightstands, I was nervous that the furniture on my main bedroom wall was going to be too “on top of each other,” but it fit perfectly.

Is it worth it?

Wayfair is certainly worth ordering from, regardless of what room you’re furnishing. With quick delivery and great products at a variety of price points, it’s a central hub to stock up your home — and stock it up well.

However, I’d likely advise passing on its assembly services with Angi. I used the service for a few of my pieces, but I received a no-show appointment once, and there were a lot of mixups about what pieces were being assembled on what day. However, Wayfair notified me that they are diligently working to resolve their internal issues. For now, I’d recommend the service only if you’re ordering one item to avoid possible confusion.

As far as my ordered pieces go, I’m most in love with the Joss & Main Hanson Upholstered Wingback Bed and the Laurel Foundry Modern Farmhouse Allyssa 3-Drawer Dresser, the latter used as a nightstand duo. The horizontal and vertical dressers are just OK, though I’m pleased with how they match the room at large. The Lark Manor Armania Swivel Upholstered Counter Stools are also lovely and great for entertaining.

Wayfair’s ease of use — coupled with frequent sales, discounts and a wide assortment of products —makes it particularly attractive for those furnishing their homes on a budget or looking for specific items they might not easily find at local retailers. Additionally, with free shipping on orders over a certain amount, flexible delivery options and a 30-day return policy, it’s a relatively risk-free way to shop, especially for smaller items or when you know exactly what you want.

However, the experience can vary, especially when purchasing larger furniture pieces. While customers may appreciate Wayfair’s white glove delivery service for bulky items like sofas and beds, others have reported delays or issues with assembly, delivery scheduling, or receiving items in less-than-perfect condition. (I discovered this once I began combing through customer reviews.)

On that note, it’s important to read product reviews carefully before purchasing, as the quality of furniture can range from basic to high-end. In terms of value, I’d say Wayfair is very much worth it for shoppers who are seeking good deals and aren’t necessarily looking for top-tier quality.

Overall, if you’re willing to invest the time to research product reviews, compare prices, and understand the shipping and return policies, Wayfair can be a great option for home furniture and decor.

How I tested

Ahead, here’s the testing criteria I used when reviewing furniture:

Material Quality

The materials used in furniture construction can significantly affect its durability, comfort and appearance. Look for furniture made from solid wood or high-quality metal for structural pieces like tables, chairs and storage units, as these tend to last longer than composite or engineered wood.

For upholstered furniture, check the fabric or leather quality, as well as the fill of cushions (whether it’s foam, down or a combination). Higher-density foam or memory foam can offer better comfort and longer wear. If possible, try to assess the finish on wood pieces to ensure it’s smooth and well-applied, with no visible chips, scratches or imperfections.

Construction and Stability

The way furniture is put together affects its sturdiness and longevity. We looked for strong joints (including dowel joints, which is what many Wayfair pieces feature) in wooden furniture, rather than those held together with nails or screws, which may weaken over time.

For upholstered furniture, check if the frame is constructed from durable materials like hardwood and reinforced with corner blocks for extra stability.

Size and Fit

Before purchasing, we made sure the furniture was the right size for the space where we planned for it to go. Measure the room and the intended spot carefully to ensure the piece fits comfortably without overwhelming the space or obstructing walkways. Also, consider the functionality of the item within the space. For example, does it offer adequate storage, seat space or movement?

Style and Aesthetic

The furniture should complement the overall design and style of your home. We looked for pieces that matched our existing decor in terms of color, design and material. Whether you’re going for a modern, traditional, rustic or industrial look, make sure the furniture aligns with your personal style.

Ease of Assembly and Maintenance

If you’re not opting for an assembly service through Angi, check if the item comes with clear instructions, all necessary tools and a well-organized parts kit. From our experience, Wayfair typically provides extra screws and items to stash away for safekeeping.

Also, consider the maintenance required to keep the furniture in good condition over time. Some materials may require more upkeep than others — leather, for example, might need regular conditioning, while wood may require polishing and care to prevent scratches or fading.
