Brewers’ Jacob Misiorowski ridiculously did something 89% of the time with 102+ MPH fastball originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Milwaukee Brewers and Tampa Bay Rays will meet in the World Series, starting Friday night in what's expected to be one of the more exciting World Series we've seen in quite some time.
Based on talent and other factors, both teams are equally matched, with small markets and young superstar talent.
For the Brewers, there might not be a bigger young superstar pitcher in Major League Baseball than Jacob Misiorowski. All Misiorowski has done this year is throw baseball at a ridiculous level, with the expectation that he'll win the National League Cy Young Award.
Misiorowski hasn't been bad by any means in the postseason, but also hasn't been great. He's thrown only 8.1 innings in his first two starts, with at least 88 pitches in each.
He still only allowed one earned run against the Los Angeles Dodgers and two against the San Diego Padres.
Misiorowski arguably has the best fastball in Major League Baseball, with some even thinking he has, or could have, the best in MLB history. As for what he's done this season, he's thrown more pitches at 102+ mph than nearly every other starter in baseball history, which is flat-out ridiculous.
“There have been 412 pitches thrown by MLB starters at 102+ MPH in the entire pitch tracking era and Jacob Misiorowski threw 365 of them this season. It's completely ridiculous,” Codify Baseball wrote.
The biggest question Misiorowski will have to answer in the World Series is whether he can stay on the mound for six-plus innings.
Even during parts of the regular season, it wasn't exactly like this was a workhorse throwing complete games left and right. He hasn't thrown more than 6.1 innings in any start since Aug. 2, though multiple factors could explain it, as the Brewers arguably have the best bullpen in Major League Baseball and trust a lot of guys coming in during the back half of games.
