Series production of the BMW iX4, the second model in the Neue Klasse lineup, is set to begin at BMW's Debrecen plant this autumn.
According to the BMW Group, the iX4 is a purely electric SUV with a coupé design. At the Debrecen site, production of the first Neue Klasse model was ramped up in less than a year, with the plant’s now more than 5,000 employees manufacturing the iX3 around the clock in three shifts. Since its launch, more than 100,000 orders have been placed for this model, and well over 50,000 vehicles have already been delivered.
With the start of production of the second model, the BMW Group plant in Debrecen is reinforcing its global role as a so-called BMW iFACTORY. Next spring, the production portfolio for both models will be expanded to include the M60 xDrive variant.
Since the start of investment in 2021, the BMW Group has invested more than 2 billion euros in the Debrecen site. Since the end of 2025, only electrically powered cars have been built there.
