Durban woman Torell Abrahams, who went missing after leaving work and informing her father that she was travelling home in an e-hailing vehicle, has been found safe following an extensive search involving community members and MK Party ward councillor Christopher Enicker.
Abrahams, 30, was last seen on October 8 after leaving a construction site on Oliver Lea Road in Umbilo at about 6pm.
She reportedly spoke to her father telephonically at around 8pm and told him she was travelling home in an e-hailing vehicle. She had not made contact with her family since then, according to an earlier report by Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA).
Her safe return was announced in a Facebook video shared by Wentworth Lives Matter on Thursday.
Search continued through the night
Enicker said the team had been searching for Abrahams from the previous afternoon and throughout the night, travelling across several areas in an effort to find her.
“We never sleep from the start because we kept on coming to research the whole of South Beach. We went on Franga Rocks. We ended up going to Phoenix,” Enicker said in the video.
Enicker expressed relief, saying the priority was now to allow Abrahams and her family time together.
“So much happened just for her to be found today. So, I'm just happy that she's home safe. I'm happy she's home safe. I just want to give her family some time to get everybody,” Enicker said.
Disappearance sparked concern
Abrahams' disappearance prompted concern among her family and the wider community, with appeals for information circulating as efforts to locate her continued.
Although her safe return has been announced in the video, the circumstances surrounding her disappearance and how she was located were not detailed in the footage.
