The families of Kevin Ramírez, 18, and Cristian Rolando Contreras, 20, have renewed their public plea to find those responsible for the tragic double homicide that claimed their lives in July 2025 in Hialeah. They are offering a $15,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
The lifeless bodies of these two young men were discovered on July 29, 2025, in the apartment rented by Ramírez at the Atlantic at Aquabella complex on West 35th Way. A customer arriving for a haircut found the door ajar and called 911 upon finding the friends unresponsive.
The Hialeah Police Department confirmed days later that they died from multiple gunshot wounds.
Adding to the heartbreak of this case is what never came to pass: just two days after the murder, Ramírez and Contreras were scheduled to travel to Medellín, Colombia, with their friend Brian León.
"Cris and Kevin were amazing, like the brothers you couldn't ask for more. God placed them in my life," León shared with NBC6.
Both young men worked as barbers at the Billionaire Barbershop in Hialeah. Contreras, known professionally as "Chris Fades," had quickly risen to become one of the most successful barbers of his age in Miami within just three years. "Kevin was on the same path," León noted.
Over 14 months after the crime, the investigation remains open without any arrests, according to the Hialeah Police Department. Cristian's brother, Oscar Contreras, pointed out that none of the surveillance cameras at the complex were operational, complicating the search for leads from the start.
"Since then, we haven't been the same," Oscar said, describing his brother as someone who meant "the world" to him.
Ethan, Kevin's cousin, remembered him as someone who inspired those around him: "He was like an older brother. A very good friend, the kind that motivated you to be better."
Kevin's mother was seen tearfully pleading for public assistance in Spanish to find her son's killer. "It's my life right now, I'm dying inside," she expressed.
Hialeah Police Lieutenant Eddie Rodríguez encapsulated the growing frustration: "For far too long, the person or people responsible have walked free while the families have borne all the suffering."
The case drew attention from the very beginning, with a young barber identified among the two individuals found dead in the Hialeah apartment.
