The 2027 NFL Draft will take place in Washington, D.C. next year. In that draft, the Vikings still have their first-round pick, but a lot could happen in the next 7 months. Before then, though, there will be plenty of speculation and buildup about the team, and who they may add through the draft in a class many are calling one of generational wealth.
While we will always look at mock drafts from analysts around the space, we will also keep up with our Mock Draft Mondays here on Vikings Wire.
College football season is officially underway, but now so is the NFL season. The Vikings showed that they are one of the best teams in the NFL, which makes mocking them tough. So, for a twist, we are trading out of the first round and showcasing what that value could look like.
Trade Back: The Vikings send their first-round pick to the Pittsburgh Steelers for their second-round picks in the 2027 and 2028 NFL Drafts.
Round 2: Kewan Lacy, RB, Ole Miss
The Vikings have shown their offense is more efficient when they have a reliable presence in the run game. Aaron Jones Sr. is getting up there, and they need to make a premium investment in him at the position. I think Lacy would be a fun piece to add to the offense to keep them complete across the board.
Round 2: Koi Perich, S, Oregon
The Vikings are enjoying what is expected tp be the final year of Harrison Smith's career with the Vikings. Perich could come in and be a fun playmaker on the backend while developing under Brian Flores. They need someone who can be a dynamic playmaker, and Perich fits that billing.
Round 3: Lance Heard, G, Kentucky
Lance Heard is a bulldozer of a player and would be a really fun addition to this offensive line. Whether he comes in and plays center or guard, he could be a fun piece on this line. They have done a really good job of finding and developing talent, adding Heard as a replacement for Brandel or Will Fries makes sense as a project.
Round 3: Quincy Rhodes Jr., Edge, Arkansas
Quincy Rhodes Jr. would be a fun addition to the pass-rush rotation of the Vikings. He has some tools that can be built upon and developed. Playing alongside Dallas Turner and Jalen Redmond should allow him to become a fun piece on their defensive front.
