Shillong, Oct 15: The Border Security Force (BSF) Meghalaya Frontier will organise the national-level ‘Run Above the Clouds’ Half Marathon 2026 in Shillong on November 18, aiming to promote fitness, sporting participation and community engagement.
The event will be organised under the aegis of SPANDAN in association with the Sports Authority of India (SAI). It will offer runners an opportunity to compete on Shillong’s hilly terrain in the Khasi Hills.
The event will feature two race categories: a 21-km half marathon and a 10-km run. The half marathon will test participants’ endurance, while the shorter distance is aimed at intermediate runners, fitness enthusiasts and other participants.
According to the announcement issued by BSF Meghalaya on its social media channels, separate competition categories and prize pools will be offered for men and women. Registration details are expected to be announced shortly.
The event is intended to encourage physical fitness and national pride while bringing together professional and amateur runners from across the country.
The BSF Meghalaya Frontier, which is responsible for guarding the India–Bangladesh border in the state, also conducts civic outreach activities to strengthen ties with local communities. The half marathon adds to its efforts to promote sports and youth participation in the region.
Shillong’s hilly landscape and scenic surroundings are expected to provide a distinctive setting for the event.
