SEREMBAN: The Negeri Sembilan education department is finalising an investigation into allegations of students from a local school being involved in the serving of alcoholic beverages during a dinner event held by the school’s alumni association on Sept 5.
In a statement today, the department said school students should not be involved in activities involving the handling or serving of alcoholic beverages.
Based on initial information, it said the event was organised by the alumni association outside the school premises. The school and the association denied allegations of student involvement in the serving of alcoholic beverages, it added.
The department said the investigation into complaints received through the Public Complaint Management System (Sispaa) also included an examination of the school's compliance with procedures.
"If there are any violations of regulations or negligence in the performance of duties, appropriate action will be taken based on the applicable regulations," read the statement.
The department said the welfare, safety and dignity of students were always a priority and that it would ensure the investigation results are thoroughly reviewed before any follow-up actions are taken.
