If you have been holding out for an OLED display that can pull double duty as both a television and a desktop gaming monitor, today's 'deal of the day' at Best Buy is worth a serious look. The retailer has slashed LG's 42-Inch C6 OLED Evo 4K smart TV down to the lowest price we have ever tracked for the latest model in the long-running C-series that helped bring OLED into the mainstream.
LG's 42-Inch C6 OLED Evo 4K Smart TV Hits All-Time Low
For today only, you can score LG's 42-inch C6 Series OLED Evo 4K Smart TV for $949.99 at Best Buy.
Best Buy advertises this as a massive $450 discount off the original $1,399.99 MSRP, though that comparison is a bit inflated against typical street pricing. For context, the 42-inch C6 has generally sold for around $1,100 over the summer before dipping to $999.99 on Amazon. Even so, shaving another $50 off that previous all-time low makes this a record discount on a versatile display.
While LG naturally markets the C6 as a TV first and foremost, the 42-inch form factor makes it a worthwhile option for PC and console gamers. At roughly 36.7 inches wide, it sits comfortably on an arm or deep desk. Just as importantly, it delivers all the benefits of OLED, such as inky blacks, infinite contrast, and no backlight bloom, while serving up gaming-focused features such as AMD FreeSync and NVIDIA G-SYNC support, a native 165Hz refresh rate, and full-bandwidth HDMI 2.1 connectivity.
If you want to go bigger, other models in the C6 family are on sale too:
- 48-Inch LG C6 OLED: $1,099.99 (save $500)
- 55-Inch LG C6 OLED: $1,399.99 (save $500)
- 65-Inch LG C6 OLED: $1,499.99 (save $1,200)
- 77-Inch LG C6 OLED: $2,299.99 (save $1,400)
- 83-Inch LG C6 OLED: $3,799.99 (save $1,500)
From our vantage point, the 65-inch LG C6 OLED is the sweet spot, at least for a living room setup. It's big, it's well under two grand, and it's only $100 more than the 55-inch model, versus an $800 difference between the 65-inch model and the next size up (77 inches).
