BMW PHILIPPINES recently introduced two additional variants of its SAV (sport activity vehicle) or SUV models X3 and X5.
The new X3 20 xDrive xLine, priced at P3.998 million, is powered by a 2.0-liter, four-cylinder engine with 48V mild-hybrid technology, paired to an eight-speed Steptronic transmission. The system generates 153kW (208hp) and 330Nm, while an electric motor is good for 13kW. Standstill-to-100kph time is 7.8 seconds — onto a top speed of 215kph.
Standard safety equipment includes Active Protection, acoustic protection for pedestrians, air bags for the driver and front passenger, head air bags for the first and second rows, side air bags for the driver and front passenger, crash sensor, anti-lock brakes, dynamic stability control, dynamic traction control, Isofix child seat mounting, acoustic seatbelt warning, automatic lock when driving away, warning triangle, tire repair kit, and tire pressure indicator.

This variant stands on 19-inch aerodynamic wheels in 941 bicolor, and receives a BMW kidney grille with Iconic Glow. An exterior mirror package comes standard, as does a so-called comfort access system, automatic operation of the tailgate, and an xLine package.
Drivers benefit from active cruise control with stop and go and, among other features, Parking Assistant Plus, BMW Live Cockpit Professional, a head-up display, augmented view, equipment package, widescreen display, and Connected Drive services.
Inside is three-zone air-conditioning, a dark graphite trim, Veganza perforated upholstery, sports seats with power adjustment and memory, lumbar support for driver and passenger, and interior rearview mirror with automatic anti-dazzle function. Mobile content through smartphone integration will find expression in a Harman Kardon surround sound system. There’s also an interior camera present, as well as a travel and comfort package and wireless charging tray.
Meanwhile, the X5 xDrive40i xLine (P5.298 million) is given a similar 48V mild hybrid technology — this time supplementing a 3.0-liter, in-line six cylinder. It outputs 284kW (381hp) and 540Nm, and drivers can access this via an eight-speed Steptronic Sport Transmission. This X5 musters 100kph from a standstill in 5.4 seconds — onto a top rate of 250kph.
Among the slew of standard safety equipment are the brand’s Active Protection System, acoustic protection for pedestrians, air bags for the driver and front passenger, head air bags for the first and second rows, side air bags for the driver and front passenger, crash sensor, anti-lock brakes, dynamic stability control, dynamic traction control, Isofix child seat mounting, acoustic seatbelt warning, automatic lock when driving away, tire repair kit, and others.
The X5 runs on 20-inch light-alloy V-spoke-style 738 bicolor wrapped with run-flat tires. Its kidney grille also gets an Iconic Glow feature. The exterior and interior receive a mirror package; the exterior receives a line satin aluminum package, Comfort Access System, and other features, along with an xLine package.
An adaptive two-axle air suspension, Parking Assistant Professional, BMW Live Cockpit Plus, Driving Assistant, and Connect Drive services are some of the other niceties in the X5.
A four-zone automatic air-conditioning keeps the cabin comfortable, while aesthetic touches include fine wood trim “Fineline Stripe” brown high-gloss, and Sensafin Décor Stitching Upholstery. The X5 receives sports seats with seat adjustment memory, lumbar support, and interior rearview mirror with automatic “anti-dazzle” function. The infotainment system accepts smartphone pairing, and the content is fed into a Harman Kardon surround sound system. The X5 also gets a wireless charging tray.
