The Los Angeles Rams suddenly have a major hole at wide receiver after Davante Adams suffered a ruptured hamstring that is expected to sideline him for 6-10 weeks. The Rams, of course, will now look to the NFL trade market for another proven receiver.
Terry McLaurin seemed like one of the best potential fits, but Washington’s star receiver suffered a season-ending torn patellar tendon just one day after the Adams news.
Now, Los Angeles may have to look deeper into the trade market. Keenan Allen and Quentin Johnston remain intriguing possibilities, but Chris Godwin has emerged as another name who could make sense for Sean McVay’s offense.

Keenan Allen remains the safest veteran option
Allen would arguably provide the Rams with the closest stylistic replacement for what Adams brings as a veteran presence. The 34-year-old has spent his career becoming one of the NFL’s most reliable route runners and chain movers, and Indianapolis signed him this offseason after his productive 2025 campaign with the Chargers.
Allen has 26 receptions for 227 yards and a touchdown through six games in Indianapolis, and his experience could be particularly valuable for Matthew Stafford and McVay. The Colts are also suddenly a team worth monitoring after the organization moved on from general manager Chris Ballard. Rival teams reportedly believe Indianapolis could be open for business ahead of the Nov. 10 trade deadline.
Quentin Johnston represents a much different type of option. The Chargers receiver is younger and more of a projection, but Los Angeles’ 0-6 start could eventually force the organization to reconsider its roster. Johnston had already been identified as a potential trade candidate before the season deteriorated further.

Chris Godwin could be the newest name to watch

Godwin may be the most interesting addition to the Rams’ trade-target list. Tampa Bay is now 1-5, and the veteran receiver is playing on a contract that could make him an intriguing asset if the Buccaneers decide their season is headed in the wrong direction.
Godwin has 23 receptions for 216 yards through six games, according to the latest trade-market reporting. While those numbers are not particularly impressive, the Rams would not necessarily need him to be the dominant receiver he was earlier in his career. With Puka Nacua already serving as the primary weapon, Godwin could instead provide Stafford with another experienced target capable of working underneath and from the slot.
The biggest question is whether Tampa Bay would actually move him. The Buccaneers could still view the NFC South as winnable, and Godwin remains an important veteran in their locker room. But if Tampa Bay decides to become a seller, the Rams should at least make the call.
Los Angeles has already lost Adams for a significant portion of the season, and McLaurin is no longer an option. McVay has acknowledged the team may need to add another receiver, making the trade market increasingly important. Godwin, Allen and Johnston could give the Rams three very different avenues to address the same problem.
