Vivo may have settled on a 200MP sensor for the telephoto camera of its upcoming X500 Ultra. The latest engineering sample is reportedly testing a 1/1.2-inch sensor, according to a well-known source.
The source previously revealed in July that Vivo was considering three different 200MP sensors for the phone. However, the latest report suggests the company may have made its final choice.
The larger sensor could improve low-light photography by capturing more light. It would also mark an upgrade over the Vivo X300 Ultra, which features a 200MP telephoto camera with a 1/1.4-inch sensor. Despite the increase in size, vivo appears to have found a way to fit the new sensor without taking up too much internal space.
The source has also shared other key specifications of the upcoming flagship. The vivo X500 Ultra is tipped to feature the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chipset and a battery with a capacity of around 8,000mAh.
Additionally, the phone is expected to feature a 6.85-inch LTPO AMOLED display supplied by BOE. According to earlier reports, Vivo could launch the X500 Ultra in China between March and April next year.
