The Noah × Timex Boatswain is a new vintage-inspired quartz watch with an elliptical case, Roman numerals and an unusual rope-pattern minute track. Priced at $228, it is scheduled to launch on 15 October in two finishes.
Timex and New York clothing brand Noah are preparing to release another collaborative watch, this time taking a more understated approach to nautical design.
Called the Boatswain, the new model features an elliptical case measuring 31 × 35 mm and comes in stainless-steel and gold-tone steel finishes. According to a 14 October report by GQ, it is priced at $228.
The dial initially looks like a conventional vintage dress-watch design, with an eggshell background, black Roman numerals and slim pencil-style hands. Look closer, however, and the inner minute track reveals something less conventional: a pattern resembling coiled rope.
It's a small detail, but one that gives the Boatswain its nautical identity without relying on an oversized maritime emblem.
Two finishes and a launch scheduled for 15 October
The Boatswain uses a quartz movement and has an 18 mm lug width. The steel version comes with a brown leather strap, while the gold-tone model is paired with black leather. Both feature a flat crystal and a small crown.
The watch follows the Noah × Timex MK1 Anchor, released in August for $248. Where that model featured a 36 mm field-watch case and prominent anchor motif, the Boatswain adopts a smaller, dressier silhouette and costs $20 less.
GQ reports that the Boatswain will go on sale through Noah's website on 15 October at 11 a.m. US Eastern time. UK and European pricing, production quantities and water-resistance specifications have not yet been confirmed in the available reporting.
The Boatswain marks another move towards vintage-inspired dress watches for Noah and Timex, offering a more restrained alternative to the nautical styling of their earlier MK1 Anchor collaboration.
