A family musical about the love of mothers who quietly protect their families' daily lives, "Battery Mom," will take the stage in January.
NHN Link said on the 21st that the family musical "Battery Mom" will run from Jan. 2 to Feb. 28 at the Yeongsan Theater in the ECC building at Ewha Womans University in Seoul. It is the company's second family musical, following "Battery Dad," which premiered last year.
The production is based on the picture book of the same title by Kang In-sook and Jeon Seung-bae. The original book was included in the third-grade Korean language textbook in 2025 and was named Book of the Year in the children's book category by the cities of Yongin and Siheung. It tells the story of a mother's love and devotion in caring for her family, told at a child's eye level.
Director Hong Seung-hee and composer Park Sang-woo, who created "Battery Dad," return for this production. Lee So-eun, a singer who has also worked as a U.S.-licensed attorney and essayist, joins the team as a writer to expand the story.
Tickets go on sale at 2 p.m. on the 26th through Ticketlink. Bookings made by Nov. 15 receive discounts of 55% on weekdays and 50% on weekends. Performances from Jan. 2 to 10 carry a 55% preview discount. Special discounts are also available for daycare and kindergarten teachers, firefighters, medical workers and their families, in recognition of workers who help protect children's daily lives.
Oh Sun-hwa, a manager at NHN Link, which produced the show, said the musical "sends encouragement to mothers who protect their children's days every day, where no one sees it." Oh added, "We hope the whole family will recharge their hearts at the theater."
