He was last seen at around 18:20 on 28 September near the Danube riverfront. He never returned to his dormitory, and his family could not reach him.
Police and volunteers began searching for the student, with rescue workers, dog handlers and river police also joining the effort. On 2 October, teams searched several parts of Bratislava, but failed to find him.
Police announced the end of the search on 9 October. Bratislava regional police confirmed his death to the news website Regióny.sk.
“Unfortunately, the search for our son has ended,” his parents wrote on social media. “Our beloved son is no longer with us.”
The reports did not specify where Andrij was found or what caused his death. His family said it would announce funeral arrangements later.
