The AIADMK submitted a representation to Tamil Nadu Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar in the Lok Bhavan on Thursday, alleging the ruling TVK was attempting to wean away its MLAs. The party sought action against certain Ministers claiming they were involved in the ‘horse trading’ of legislators.
A representation on behalf of AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K. Palaniswami was submitted to the Governor by party MLA Agri S.S. Krishnamoorthy.
He told journalists the representation also contained media reports of a Minister making public statements that about 15 AIADMK functionaries were set to join the TVK.
Mr. Krishnamoorthy said the AIADMK had flagged ‘horse trading’ attempts earlier too with the Governor as well as with senior officials of the Election Commission of India seeking action against the six MLAs who resigned, under the anti-defection law but there has not been action on that pleas since.
“We have recalled our earlier representation also. We have now sought action against the Ministers who are openly making statements about AIADMK functionaries joining the TVK soon,” he said.
According to him, the Governor was also informed about the “artificial electricity shortage” being created deliberately so as to justify the purchase of electricity from private players at exorbitant cost.
When asked about some dissident AIADMK MLAs making public their resentment with the party leadership and recent statement by AIADMK MLA C.Ve. Shanmugam, Mr. Krishnamoorthy maintained there was no issue in the party. If any individual wanted to say something, if they expressed their sentiments with the party’s general secretary, Mr. Palaniswami would address them, he said.
