Art Basel Paris 2026

Art Basel Paris returns to the Grand Palais from October 23rd to 25th, 2026, with its fifth edition that brings together 211 galleries from 41 countries and regions, while expanding beyond the fair through an extensive public program across Paris. Under new director Karim Crippa, the edition foregrounds the galleries, museums, institutions, and public spaces of the city as part of the fair’s wider cultural context.

The fair is organized across three sectors: Galeries, with 183 exhibitors; Emergence, with 16 solo presentations; and Premise, with 12 historically focused projects. This year, Premise moves into the larger Salon Seine, while Conversations relocates to the Grand Palais Auditorium for the first time. A record 12 joint booths will also bring together 24 galleries.

Outside the Grand Palais, the Public Program spreads across nine Parisian venues, including the Petit Palais, Palais d’Iéna, Cité de l’architecture et du patrimoine, Beaux-Arts de Paris, and several public squares and gardens. Highlights include Alice Diop’s Geste de Consolation at Palais d’Iéna, Tracey Emin’s sculptures at the Parvis des Droits-de-l’Homme, Kutluğ Ataman’s Küba at Beaux-Arts de Paris, and Robert Indiana’s LOVE Wall at Place Clemenceau.

Alice Diop – Geste de Consolation presented by miu miu

For her first exhibition project, French filmmaker Alice Diop transforms the Palais d’Iéna into a multimedia journey for Miu Miu’s 2026 Art Basel Paris Public Program commission. Geste de Consolation brings together film, photography, sculpture, poetry, dance, music, and live performance, centering acts of consolation conceived by Black women artists.

The project takes over four interconnected spaces. It begins with work by South African artist Zanele Muholi and a two-screen video installation by Diop, bringing together archival images and film excerpts that have shaped her own way of looking. This leads into Chambre à soi, a living room and library featuring carpets with a motif by Mary Lee Bendolph and books drawn from Diop’s intellectual influences. The central library opens onto a performance space where texts by writers including Penda Diouf, Zora Neale Hurston, June Jordan, Audre Lorde, Marie Ndiaye, and Zadie Smith are performed live. Choreography by Nadia Beugré and music by Angel Bat Dawid and her ensemble further extend the project beyond the conventions of a static exhibition. The journey ends with Simone Leigh’s monumental bronze Sentinel (Mami Wata), whose nearly five-meter-tall female figure references the West African water spirit whose image has travelled across Africa and its diasporas.

Tracey Emin brings three bronze figures to Paris

Presented by White Cube, Tracey Emin’s I Lay Here For You, I Followed You to the End, and I Will Not Be Alone occupy the Parvis des Droits de l’Homme outside the Cité de l’architecture et du patrimoine. The three bronze figures explore intimacy, vulnerability, and resilience through different poses of the female body. The works move from an elongated figure lying on the ground to a kneeling body and, finally, an upright seated figure, tracing, together, a shift from exposure and surrender toward strength and endurance.

Artworks take over Avenue Winston Churchill

Avenue Winston Churchill becomes an outdoor setting for works by Marcello Maloberti, Yinka Shonibare, Simone Fattal, Niki de Saint Phalle, Manfred Pernice, Alicja Kwade, Carmen Herrera, and Keita Miyazaki. The free-access program places sculpture and installation directly within the public realm, from monumental stone forms and concrete benches to neon, bronze, and recycled materials.

Marcello Maloberti’s CIEL suspends the French word for ‘sky’ 20 meters above the avenue, written upside down as if addressed to the sky rather than viewers below. Nearby, Yinka Shonibare’s Abstract Bronze VIII transforms a twisted bronze form with hand-painted Dutch wax patterns, while Simone Fattal’s Door takes the form of a weathered architectural fragment held together by long metal nails.

The selection also includes Niki de Saint Phalle’s colorful Cat Head Totem, Manfred Pernice’s four concrete benches in bank-group, and Alicja Kwade’s L’Élévation des Mondes, a precarious tower of ten polished stone spheres sourced from different parts of the world. Carmen Herrera’s geometric Angulo Amarillo and Keita Miyazaki’s A Symbiotic Form, made from salvaged car parts and pleated Japanese paper, extend the presentation into abstraction, material transformation, and ideas of fragility.

Kutluğ Ataman brings Küba to the Chapelle des Petits-Augustins

Kutluğ Ataman’s Küba transforms the Chapelle des Petits-Augustins at the Beaux-Arts de Paris into a multi-screen portrait of a community shaped by migration, poverty, and survival. First created in 2004, the 40-screen video installation gives each television to a different resident of Küba, a former settlement on the outskirts of Istanbul founded in the late 1960s by people fleeing political persecution.

Set among mismatched armchairs and salvaged furniture, the screens show residents speaking directly to the camera about their memories, fears, beliefs, and dreams. Their stories overlap without one voice taking precedence, allowing visitors to gradually piece together a collective portrait while moving through the installation. Ataman uses individual testimony to consider how identity is formed through storytelling, giving the community’s own voices control over its representation.

Design Miami.Paris 2026 returns for its fourth edition

Design Miami.Paris returns for its fourth edition to Hôtel de Maisons in the Faubourg Saint-Germain from October 20th to 25th, 2026, bringing together more than 20 international galleries alongside a Design at Large program. The fair focuses on collectible design across historical and contemporary practices, with presentations spanning French decorative arts, Scandinavian design, Italian design, artist-made jewelry, and large-scale works.

Highlights include historical pieces by Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret, Charlotte Perriand, Robert Mallet-Stevens, Eileen Gray, and Pierre Chareau, alongside contemporary work by designers including Studio Lugo, Adélie Ducasse, and Vincent Dubourg. A Nordic thread runs through presentations by Modernity, Hostler Burrows, Galerie Maria Wettergren, and Galerie Eric Philippe. Design at Large extends the fair into the courtyard, interiors, and gardens of Hôtel de Maisons with larger-scale works. Galerie Patrick Seguin presents Jean Prouvé’s 6×6 Demountable House (1944), while Maison Parisienne shows a sculptural bench by Pierre Renart and Galerie Gastou features Irene Cattaneo’s monumental bronze swings Effi Briest. The program also includes the second edition of Design Miami x Apple: Designers of Tomorrow, focused in 2026 on Design for Presence, with four emerging designers selected to develop projects incorporating Apple technology.

when: October 20th–25th, 2026; public opening October 21, 11am–7pm
where: Hôtel de Maisons, 51 Rue de l’Université, 75007 Paris

Maison Parisienne

Pierre Renart and Maison Parisienne present a monumental wooden bench whose backrest unfolds into a curved ribbon, extending into a chaise longue. Made from a single flowing line of wood, the piece creates two facing seating areas designed for sitting and conversation.

Craftica Gallery

Craftica Gallery presents Korallion (2026), a birch plywood bench by Cyryl Zakrzewski that sits between sculpture and architecture. Designed for an outdoor setting, its fluid form responds to light, weather, and the passage of time while adding a sculptural element within the landscape.

Galerie Gastou

Galerie Gastou presents Irene Cattaneo’s Effi Briest, a group of monumental bronze swings inspired by the childhood swing in Theodor Fontane’s 1895 novel. Their weight and permanence contrast with the fleeting movement associated with swings, connecting the installation to the tension between childhood freedom and the social structures that shape adulthood.

Nilufar

Nilufar features a curated selection of vintage design alongside contemporary works, including Von Pelt Atelier’s Table Lamp Spring Fountain 2 (2025). Made in Spain, the lamp reinterprets the silver-plated decorative objects found in Spanish homes during the mid-to-late 20th century.

Galerie Patrick Seguin

Galerie Patrick Seguin showcases furniture by Jean Prouvé, Charlotte Perriand, and Pierre Jeanneret alongside a 6×6 demountable house by Prouvé at Design Miami.Paris. The presentation brings together furniture and architecture to examine the shared ideas connecting the three designers’ practices.
The booth features Perriand’s Forme Libre low table from 1956, a Jeanneret sofa set from around 1955, and a Prouvé sideboard and Antony chair from around 1950. In the Hôtel de Maisons garden, Prouvé’s 1944 6×6 house is presented with a redesigned interior inspired by the chashitsu, the traditional Japanese tea pavilion.
Using natural materials including wood, the installation creates a dialogue between Prouvé’s architecture and Japanese approaches to living. It also draws on the designer’s connections with Japan, emphasizing affinities around simplicity, lightness, and material restraint.

Designers of Tomorrow – Design Miami.Paris x Apple

For its second year, Design Miami x Apple: Designers of Tomorrow focuses on ‘Design for Presence,’ exploring how design can encourage people to slow down, pay attention, and connect with their surroundings. Led by curator Rodman Primack, a jury of international design figures will select four emerging designers whose work incorporates Apple technology into their creative processes.

Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain – Ibrahim Mahama

Ghanaian artist Ibrahim Mahama transforms the Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain into a collective space for art, research, and exchange with The Harvest Season. For his first major exhibition in Paris, Mahama occupies the institution alongside nine artists and collectives connected through long-term collaborations, research, and exchanges, bringing together site-specific works and new versions of existing installations. The exhibition takes inspiration from the three art centers Mahama has established in Tamale, northern Ghana, since 2019. These spaces combine artistic production, education, and transmission, providing a model for thinking about how cultural institutions can emerge from local networks rather than operate separately from them. At the Fondation Cartier, this approach extends into a program of exhibitions, performances, music, talks, workshops, and masterclasses.

Among the central works is Parliament of Ghosts, a circular parliamentary chamber made from traditional Asante wooden stools. The installation refers to Ghana’s 1966 coup and the dissolution of its government, while also functioning as a stage for performances and discussions throughout the exhibition. Mahama also presents Things Fall Apart, a monumental reconstruction of a former Ghanaian glass bottle factory, using original materials to connect industrial heritage with questions of education, infrastructure, and possible futures. The exhibition expands through works by Dorothy Akpene Amenuke, Gideon Appah, James Barnor, CATPC, Courage Dzidula Kpodo, Zohra Opoku, Postbox Ghana, Tjaša Rener, and Feda Wardak. Their practices bring together textiles, photography, painting, architecture, archives, agricultural materials, and inherited infrastructure, extending Mahama’s interest in how histories and forms of knowledge can be carried forward and transformed.

L’Art de la Convivialité brings together custom creations, limited editions, and artisanal techniques developed for hotels, restaurants, cafés, chefs, architects, and designers.

A fully dressed table presents selected pieces created for special hospitality projects, showing how the Italian porcelain maker adapts its decorative language, forms, and colors to individual settings. The presentation focuses on the production process behind these commissions, from shaping and glazing the porcelain to firing and hand decoration.

Thomas Houseago and Théo Mercier

For the 2026 Reiffers Initiatives Mentorship, sculptors Thomas Houseago and Théo Mercier transform the foundation’s Paris space into an exhibition and working environment, bringing together two generations and distinct approaches to sculpture. Houseago will work under the foundation’s glass roof for several weeks, creating a new group of works on site, while Mercier will fill the ground floor with sculptures, found objects, antiques, and works in progress from his Paris studio.

The exhibition keeps traces of the artists’ working processes visible. Houseago’s temporary atelier remains intact for the exhibition, alongside recent sculptures including a monumental bronze owl and one of his masks. Mercier’s installation reconstructs his studio not as a literal replica, but as a representation of the relationships between objects and forms within his practice.

WE ARE ONA presents Dalad’s with Rirkrit Tiravanija

WE ARE ONA brings together artist Rirkrit Tiravanija and chef Dalad Kambhu for Dalad’s, a temporary restaurant during Art Basel Paris 2026. For seven days, the project activates a secret location in the 17th arrondissement into a setting where Thai cuisine, contemporary art, and hospitality meet around a shared table.

Tiravanija creates the restaurant’s central installation from two stainless-steel boats inspired by traditional Thai fishing boats. Reimagined as communal tables, the boats incorporate steam pots for cooking, turning the installation itself into part of the dining experience.

Kambhu serves a four-course lunch and seven-course dinner, bringing her interpretation of Thai cuisine to the project. The collaboration extends Tiravanija’s longstanding interest in cooking, eating, and social interaction as artistic forms, while connecting the boats’ cultural references with Kambhu’s approach to Thai food and memory.

Guerlain – L’Heure des Possibles

For L’Heure des Possibles, Guerlain brings together more than 30 international artists at La Maison Guerlain on the Champs-Élysées, using l’heure bleue, the fleeting interval between day and night, as the exhibition’s starting point. Curated by Hervé Mikaeloff and Benoît Baume, the exhibition spans photography, sculpture, installation, and other media around ideas of perception, transition, and possibility. The exhibition is divided into three chapters: to contemplate, to experience, and to take the plunge. The sequence moves from works concerned with light and perception toward more intimate encounters with transformation and, finally, the uncertainty and possibilities that emerge from change.

Artists including James Turrell, Ann Veronica Janssens, Todd Hido, Rineke Dijkstra, Christian Boltanski, Annette Messager, Laure Prouvost, Ugo Rondinone, Rinko Kawauchi, Friedrich Kunath, Yoann Bourgeois, Barthélémy Toguo, Xie Lei, and Zao Wou-Ki are among those featured. The visual works are accompanied by an olfactory component developed by Guerlain Perfume Director Delphine Jelk. Working with selected artists, Jelk has created bespoke scents to accompany their works, while also presenting a new interpretation of Guerlain’s L’Heure Bleue, the fragrance originally created in 1912.

Jordan Casteel – Winter Sun

Jordan Casteel presents Winter Sun, a new series of paintings at Thaddaeus Ropac Paris Marais, marking the American artist’s first exhibition in France and her most significant presentation in Europe to date. Created during the first half of 2026, the paintings use a cool, earthy palette to consider dormancy and renewal, hope and grief, and the changing relationship between the artist, her community, and the environments she inhabits.

Casteel continues to work from photographs, meeting her subjects within their own environments. The approach extends her interest in portraying people of color and mapping the social landscapes of the communities around her, while recent works also introduce a more autobiographical dimension following the birth of her son.

Jenny Holzer – J’ai vu

Jenny Holzer transforms the Musée d’Orsay inside and out with J’ai vu, a museum-wide activation. Drawing on texts from the museum’s archives and the historical period represented in its collection, Holzer brings fragments of letters, literature, and political commentary to the museum’s façade, galleries, and public spaces. The project begins with light projections across the former railway station’s facade along the Seine, while inside, a site-specific LED installation streams colorful text through the museum.

Holzer’s metallic redaction paintings and newly created stone benches extend the project into the galleries, engaging with works from the museum’s collections and the architecture of Gae Aulenti. Outdoor projections will take place on several evenings around the October opening, with dates to be announced.

Monet – Painting time

The Musée de l’Orangerie marks the centenary of Claude Monet’s death with Monet: Painting Time, an exhibition examining how the artist’s work evolved from capturing fleeting impressions to exploring the experience of duration. Nearly 40 paintings trace this progression, from his Impressionist works of the 1870s through the Haystacks, Poplars, and Rouen Cathedral series to the Water Lilies that occupied him until his death in 1926.

The exhibition brings together works from the Musée d’Orsay and Musée Marmottan Monet, alongside loans from French and international collections. Its final section focuses on the Nymphéas, connecting the series to the Musée de l’Orangerie’s permanent panoramic installation, which Monet conceived as an immersive environment.

Simone Fattal and Kerry James Marshall at Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris

The Musée d’Art Moderne de Paris hosts two major solo exhibitions this fall, bringing together more than five decades of work by Simone Fattal and over four decades of painting by Kerry James Marshall. The exhibitions offer two distinct approaches to history, memory, identity, and representation, spanning painting, sculpture, ceramics, collage, drawing, and installation.

Simone Fattal: Des villes au fond d’un lac brings together around 100 works from across the Lebanese-American artist’s career, from her early landscape paintings to her ceramics and collages. Τhe exhibition groups works around recurring ideas and forms, including Fattal’s engagement with literature, archaeology, mythology, and the Mediterranean. Her ceramic figures draw on ancient Mesopotamian and Greek epics, while later paintings and collages return to landscape, nature, memory, and personal experience.

Kerry James Marshall: The Histories is the artist’s first exhibition in France and brings together 70 works, including eight new paintings made specifically for the exhibition. Organized across eleven chronological and thematic groups, the presentation traces Marshall’s ongoing engagement with the representation of Black life, from early paintings of the 1980s and works addressing the Middle Passage to scenes of everyday life, portraits of historical figures, and later paintings that revisit the traditions of Western art history.

Bourse de Commerce – Pinault Collection – ‘Remember Me’

For Remember Me, the Pinault Collection brings around 700 photographs by more than 70 artists to the Bourse de Commerce, drawing from its holdings of more than 8,000 photographic prints. Marking the bicentenary of photography, the exhibition traces the history of the medium through works ranging from Gustave Le Gray and Dorothea Lange to Cindy Sherman and Wolfgang Tillmans. Curator Matthieu Humery organizes the exhibition as an open-ended sequence of correspondences around themes including seriality, composition, portraiture, and photography’s own disappearance. Memory provides a connecting thread, with historical images placed alongside contemporary works that reinterpret, echo, or disrupt them.

Barbara Kruger’s Untitled (Remember Me) occupies the Bourse de Commerce’s Rotunda, while dedicated presentations focus on Irving Penn and Raymond Depardon. Grand Palais – Cezanne et nous

The Grand Palais presents Cezanne et nous, an exhibition tracing Paul Cézanne’s influence from the late 19th century to the present through nearly 180 works. Bringing together artists including Paul Gauguin, Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, Piet Mondrian, Joan Mitchell, Bridget Riley, and Peter Doig, the exhibition examines how successive generations have interpreted, appropriated, and challenged Cézanne’s approach to painting.

The exhibition follows Cézanne’s growing influence from the artists and collectors who discovered his work in Paris in the late 1880s through the avant-garde movements of the 20th century. His interest in the relationship between painting and reality became a point of reference for both lyrical and geometric abstraction, as artists repeatedly revisited his formal language and ideas.

Around 150 drawings, alongside paintings, screenprints, photographs, and archival documents, trace how drawing remained a site of experimentation throughout his career, from his early work as a commercial illustrator to his late drawings for The Last Supper.

The exhibition is organized around five themes: Warhol’s beginnings in advertising illustration, his use of handwritten text, his fascination with faces and masks, his exploration of gay imagery, and his recurring preoccupation with death. Drawings reveal the techniques behind his images, including stamps, transferred lines, stencils, and collage, highlighting the relationship between hand and mechanical reproduction that runs through his work.

Jeu de Paume – Stan Douglas

Jeu de Paume presents Parallax, the most extensive monographic exhibition devoted to Stan Douglas in France in more than 30 years. Spanning film, photography, and installation, the exhibition brings together works from the late 1980s to the present that examine how images shape memory and how historical narratives are constructed, represented, and transmitted.

Named after the optical phenomenon in which an object appears to shift according to the viewer’s position, Parallax questions the idea of a fixed or linear history. Works including Hors-champs, Inconsolable Memories, Luanda-Kinshasa, Crowds and Riots, and Penn Station’s Half Century approach historical events through constructed narratives, multiple perspectives, and technological processes.

Haydn von Werp presents Stemma at Galerie Montpensier beneath the arcades of the Palais-Royal gardens, translating architectural ideas of rhythm, proportion, and ornament into a collection of objects. The pieces combine Murano glass, mirrored glass, and Italian stone, emphasizing both the character of each material and its effect on the surrounding space.

Mirrored surfaces extend the perceived boundaries of the wall, glass alters the sense of weight and catches and diffuses light, while stone anchors the works to the ground. Together, the materials explore the relationship between structure and decoration and how architectural language can be condensed into objects.

Lafayette Anticipations

At Lafayette Anticipations, three solo exhibitions open simultaneously on October 21st, 2026, bringing together distinct approaches to painting, sculpture, photography, and moving image. Towards a Sea introduces Japanese painter Yu Nishimura in his first institutional solo exhibition in France, while Vivresse marks the first French institutional exhibition dedicated to Hélène Fauquet. Monument presents two works by Californian artist Mungo Thomson that reconsider how everyday objects and images can become records of their time. Nishimura’s Towards a Sea brings together around 50 paintings and drawings made over the past decade, including works created for the exhibition. Working in oil and tempera, he layers photographic and cinematic techniques with landscapes, figures, animals, and fragments of the sea to create scenes suspended between observation and memory.

On the top floor, Fauquet’s Vivresse examines the relationship between decoration, photography, nature, and artifice through sculptures based on shells and bubbles. Her sculptural frames transform photographs into spatial and symbolic objects, while the unstable bubble becomes a recurring motif for exploring reflection, transparency, and perception. Thomson’s Monument occupies the courtyard and exhibition spaces with Snowman, a bronze sculpture based on cardboard shipping tubes, and Time Life Volume 15. Monument to a Period of Time in Which I Lived, a stop-motion film assembled from thousands of images found in books. Together, the works question the traditional idea of the monument by turning materials and images from everyday circulation into markers of contemporary life.

Visionaries: Carte blanche to Prune Nourry

For Visionaries, the Petit Palais gives Prune Nourry a carte blanche to revisit the history of women in sculpture. The exhibition brings 18 little-known or overlooked female sculptors from the late 19th and early 20th centuries into the museum through a new series of portraits, created after a year of research with three art historians. Nourry’s portraits are shown alongside works from the Petit Palais collection, with earlier pieces from her Holy Daughters and Venus series extending the conversation.

The presentation also addresses the imbalance within the museum’s holdings, where women account for around four percent of the collection’s works and only four female sculptors are represented. Visionaries begins on the museum forecourt with Mothership, a hybrid figure combining the body of a pregnant woman with the hull of a ship. Inside, Nourry’s use of plaster, a material closely associated with the Petit Palais’s sculpture collection, and recurring marble eyes create visual connections between contemporary and historical works while prompting a closer look at how the female body has been represented.

La MEP – Maison Européenne de la Photographie – Irving Penn: PENN & FASHION

Maison Européenne de la Photographie (MEP) presents a major survey of Irving Penn’s fashion photography from 1947 to 2008. Drawn primarily from the MEP and the Nicola Erni Collection, with loans from The Irving Penn Foundation and the Miyake Issey Foundation, Penn & Fashion, traces the American photographer’s six-decade relationship with fashion and his long collaboration with Vogue. The exhibition moves from his photographs of Parisian haute couture in the 1950s, including Dior and Balenciaga, through the work of the 1970s and 1980s for designers such as Ungaro, Courrèges, Yves Saint Laurent, and Karl Lagerfeld. It also highlights Penn’s collaboration with Issey Miyake, whose sculptural garments became a particularly strong match for his controlled photographic compositions.

The presentation continues through Penn’s later fashion and beauty work, including photographs of creations by John Galliano, Christian Lacroix, and Chanel. Across the exhibition, his attention to silhouette, volume, texture, and composition demonstrates how his fashion commissions operated between photography, art, and commercial image-making.

At the Institut du monde arabe, Vive la mariée ! Algérie, Maroc, Tunisie, examines marriage as a social and intimate ritual across the Maghreb. studioutte – Entre les lignes

Entre les lignes brings Milanese duo studioutte together with Italian artist Armando Marrocco at Galerie Chloé Perrin, translating the principle of Intreccio, or interweaving, that has shaped Marrocco’s practice since the 1960s into a spatial installation.

The gallery becomes a contemporary living interior where artworks, furniture, and architecture form a single landscape. Studioutte places its ERT chair, Osaka bench, Torch and Straal lights alongside The Ur, a new armchair created specifically for the exhibition, creating a dialogue between Marrocco’s work and the duo’s approach to objects and space.

Look! 40 ans de mode au musée

The Musée des Arts Décoratifs marks 40 years of its fashion museum with Look! 40 ans de mode au musée, bringing together 40 iconic silhouettes from four decades of exhibitions. The exhibition traces the processes that turn fashion into museum objects, from the first sketch and couture atelier to photography, conservation, restoration, and display.

The presentation follows the two lives of a garment: its creation before entering the collection and its transformation into cultural heritage once it reaches the museum. Drawings, embroidery samples, patterns, model deposits, and archival material reveal the work behind the clothes, while photographs and fashion shows demonstrate how garments have been presented as artistic performances. The 40 silhouettes span the museum’s exhibition history, from Moments de mode and Madeleine Vionnet to Christian Dior, couturier du rêve and Les Mondes surréalistes d’Elsa Schiaparelli.

PASSAGES: Pas sages

For PASSAGES: Pas sages, the Quai d’Orsay opens the historic Hôtel du Ministre to a contemporary art exhibition during Art Basel Paris. Co-produced by artist-designers Thierry Lemaire and Harry Nuriev and curated by Krystyna Winckler, the exhibition brings contemporary art, design, craftsmanship, heritage objects, and diplomatic archives into dialogue across the ministry’s historic salons.

The exhibition focuses on the idea of passage as a form of transmission, connecting artists who have participated in France’s international residency network with works from the Manufactures Nationales, the Centre National des Arts Plastiques, and the diplomatic archives. Artists include Louise Bourgeois, Zao Wou-Ki, Betty Woodman, Raphaël Barontini, Jeanne Vicérial, Pol Taburet, Nour Awada, and Nelly Saunier, alongside historical furniture, ceramics, textiles, and Cypriot antiquities.

Lemaire and Nuriev develop the scenography as part of the exhibition itself, introducing contemporary interventions into rooms such as the King’s Bedroom and a cabinet of curiosities assembled from diplomatic documents and objects. The presentation also connects the exhibition to France’s network of more than 80 international artist residencies, positioning artistic exchange as part of cultural diplomacy.

Carpenters presents Rick Owens Furniture and Japanese ceramics

Carpenters brings together two exhibitions for Paris Art Week, pairing Rick Owens Furniture’s Five Easy Pieces, curated by Michèle Lamy, with Master Pieces, a presentation of Japanese ceramics organized with De Biousse & West. The two shows approach material and craft from different perspectives, from Owens and Lamy’s use of rusted steel and wood to a century of Japanese ceramic practices.

Five Easy Pieces presents five new editions of functional artworks that continue Owens and Lamy’s interest in architectural form and primal materials. Rusted steel and wood foreground processes of transformation, with the materials carrying associations with resistance, nature, and time. Running alongside it, Master Pieces brings together 16 works by 11 leading figures in 20th- and 21st-century Japanese ceramics. Spanning a century of practice, the selection highlights different approaches to historical techniques, form, surface, pattern, and material, with works that are seldom exhibited outside Japan.

what: Five Easy Pieces + Master Pieces
when: October 20th, 2026 – March 15th, 2027 (Five Easy Pieces); October 20th – December 19th, 2026 (Master Pieces)
where: Carpenters, 54 Rue de la Verrerie, 75004 Paris

Downtown+ – GHOSTS by Wendy Andreu and Ais

Downtown+ returns to 11 Rue Las Cases for GHOSTS, bringing together designer Wendy Andreu and artist Ais in an exhibition about how objects, bodies, and memories persist through transformation. Τhe show places reworked furniture alongside paintings that similarly use layers, erasure, and traces of what came before. Andreu transforms second-hand chairs by covering them with Regen, a composite material made from cotton rope and silicone. The original forms remain legible beneath the new surface, turning familiar furniture into objects that sit between functional design and sculpture. Ais’s paintings approach persistence through intimate figures partially concealed by superimposed layers and overpainting. Together, the furniture and paintings create an interior that shifts between the familiar and the surreal, questioning how objects and images retain memory even when their original forms are altered.
