NBA fans caught Brandin Podziemski imitating Steph Curry during Tuesday’s preseason game between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Golden State Warriors. Late in the first quarter, between possessions, Podziemski walked around like Curry and chewed on his mouthguard. Curry is renowned for it and has even addressed why it helps him during games.
Here’s Podziemski’s viral video:
Podziemski is also rocking a shorter hairdo this season, similar to Curry’s look in his 20s. NBA fans hilariously reacted to Podziemski for seemingly copying his star teammate’s mannerisms.
“Oscar Worthy,” one fan said.
Brandin Podziemski steers Warriors’ comeback against Lakers
Brandin Podziemski had one of his better games in Tuesday’s preseason game against the Lakers. He had a decent first half, tallying 10 points and two rebounds on 3-for-7 shooting. The Warriors trailed 63-50 against Los Angeles’ starters, minus Luka Doncic. However, once the Lakers rested their primary rotation players, Podziemski and Golden State’s second unit clawed their way back.
The fourth-year guard was key in helping the Warriors get back in the game. In his 11-minute second-half shift, he had seven points and two assists on 3-for-5 shooting. Podziemski was a plus-minus +16 in the third quarter as the Warriors cut Los Angeles’ deficit to four points. Podziemski finished with a team-high 17 points on 50.0% shooting.
The Warriors won 101-89 after Podziemski set the reserves up in the final quarter against Los Angeles’ end-of-bench and two-way players.
The Warriors will need him to step up more than ever after retaining last year’s core. With Jimmy Butler out for the foreseeable future, Podziemski is their second-best offensive player behind Steph Curry.
The Warriors have already placed their faith in Podziemski, offering him a five-year, $110 million extension on Saturday, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
