Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has urged Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to invite Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) for fresh talks. Speaking in the National Assembly, he supported the emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and called for political unity against terrorism. He said dialogue could help political parties work together to address security challenges.
Bilawal said President Asif Ali Zardari had approved the emergency in accordance with the Constitution. However, he argued that the government had made efforts to engage the opposition before taking this step. He added that imposing an emergency was not something the government welcomed and required a strong justification.

According to Bilawal, the government had first given negotiations a chance when the matter reached the president. He said he was informed that talks had succeeded on the night of negotiations. Meanwhile, two PPP representatives were part of the negotiating committee, although the political process did not resolve the issue.
Bilawal also criticised PTI’s role in the current political and legal situation. He argued that the party’s provincial government had taken a politically damaging step. Nevertheless, he urged the government and opposition to consider a middle ground instead of allowing disagreements to deepen.
Turning to security concerns, Bilawal said Pakistan needed a united response to terrorism. He stressed that no individual or institution could tackle the threat alone. Therefore, he called on political parties to set aside differences and cooperate in addressing the country’s security challenges.

Bilawal also accused India of supporting terrorism in Pakistan through separatist groups. Additionally, he referred to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statements about Operation Sindoor. These remarks reflected Bilawal’s position on regional security and India-Pakistan tensions.
In conclusion, Bilawal renewed his appeal for the federal government to extend an invitation to PTI for dialogue. He said all sides should remain willing to engage with the opposition. He maintained that political cooperation was necessary to confront terrorism and find a way forward on the emergency issue.
