At the weekend I stumbled across a dessert so good that it completely destroyed any ounce of willpower I thought I had. As usual, I was doing my weekly M&S shop, slowly wandering the aisles to see what was new, when one particularly gooey-looking pack of brownies caught my eye.
The words "Creamy Tiramisu Brownies" were enough to stop me in my tracks.
I'd never seen a tiramisu and brownie hybrid before, so there was absolutely no way I was leaving the shop without trying them. And it's not an exaggeration when I say that it was the best £4.25 I've spent in a very long time.

Why choose between two of the world's greatest desserts when you can have both? M&S has somehow managed to combine rich, fudgy chocolate brownie with everything we love about a tiramisu. Each brownie slice is infused with Brazilian coffee before being topped with silky mascarpone, white chocolate fudge, a generous dusting of cocoa and a sprinkling of dried coffee.
It is rich, creamy and really quite special. The brownie itself is so fudgy, while the mascarpone topping lightens everything up with that creamy coffee mascarpone flavour. And the coffee adds just enough bitterness to balance the sweetness without overpowering the chocolate.

I'd highly recommend popping one in the fridge before eating, as it makes the mascarpone topping even creamier and gives the whole thing that authentic tiramisu texture. Pair one with an afternoon coffee and you've got what might just be my new favourite supermarket dessert (but a warning note: it may put you in a slight sugar coma).
The £4.25 price point might be a little on the higher end, but the quality on these are sensational and the perfect dessert to take to a dinner party, or just eat for dessert on a Monday night... just saying.
